WARNING. The car we rented was not actually provided by Reykjavik car, but by Lagoon car rental, which has bad clients recommendations on the internet, and with whom we had an important problem (~700 euros for a «extremely» minor scratch - the car was not even repaired at the end of the season). Update : must also add that they tried to "negotiate" so that I remove this advice (they offered more than 100 euros, at this price, you can expect that some negative comments were wiped off). Never again.

We had a great experience with Reykjavik Cars - from pick up to drop off, the staff and vehicle were excellent. The Duster was ideal for a self-drive holiday around Southern Iceland and I would definitely use them again. Highly recommended.

So far I feel like I'm living someone else's bad review. I booked a 8 AM pick up from my hotel (which i paid extra for). Around 8:15 when no one showed, I tried calling the company (no answer). I also sent them an email. Around 8:30, a guy from Blue car rental shows up and was unapologetic (which is what someone wrote about in a review about 3 months ago). Also, drop off is apparently at the location, not my hotel like I scheduled for convenience (also an extras charge). The website was unclear about that. Next time I will be sticking with the more popular chain car rental agencies.
Reykjavik Cars did reach back to me in an email and apologized for Blue Car rental, but that doesn't help much.

My husband and I used Reykjavík Cars for our summer road trip and we had the best time! We researched a lot, and even though other companies offer slightly cheaper prices, Reykjavík Cars is definitely the most reliable one! They offer great services, they have a good car selection, and their insurance package is also very good. The team was very responsive and it was easy to communicate with them when we had a question about our reservation. The car was exactly what we were expecting: fuel efficient, comfortable, and it was a newer model. No weird surprises with this company! We read so many reviews for other companies where customers were given old cars that were basically falling apart! But most certainly that won’t happen to you if you go with this company. I saw some of their other cara while we were waiting for ours and they were all in great condition. Its easy to get to the office, they have a good bus pickup service to the airport office, and the city office is not too far away from the city centre. We will definitely rent a car from this company when we go back to Iceland!

I went to the Keflavik airport office which is literally a 5 minutes walk from the terminal doors and I was taken in charge quickly. The vehicle was clean, and the clerk did not over-push any product, he simply offered me additional insurances and products. For 10 days, the vehicle had no failure or problems. We cleaned the car (Exterior and interior) at a gas station, and re-fueled it and then we gave it back to the airport office. The check-up was quick and they did not bother me for any scratch or other. I would book with them again anytime.

Very happy both with the service we received and with the vehicle. Good communication from the day we made the booking. Also pleasantly surprised that our vehicle was upgraded at no extra cost, and that there was no 'hidden extras' in terms of cost.

we cancelled our thrifty reservations after finding out Icelandair uses a third party booking for their car rental agreement. We then booked with Reykjavik cars (Blue car rental) based on their reviews. We loved them! Had brand new car, excellent service and they don't gauge you! Staff was really helpful and kind, even guided us to have a really nice lunch at a restaurant nearby! We plan on returning to Iceland very soon and will definitely use this company again!

Brilliant service from start to finish. I forgot to inform them of my arrival time at Keflavik airport, but after a quick, friendly phone call, somebody arrived to pick us up and take us to get our car. Hired a 4x4 Mitsubishi Outlander which was pretty much brand new and perfect for getting us around snowy Iceland. Staff were friendly and informative and drop off at the end was quick, easy and hassle free. Highly recommended!

Great experience with Reykjavik Cars from start to finish.
Good pickup service to and from the airport and hassle free rental. Their vehicles are in excellent condition and there is no attempt to 'sting' you with hidden fees at the end, unlike some other rental companies!

I had a great experience with Reykjavik Cars. Picking up the car was quick and easy - even at 5:00 in the morning. The agent who helped us was very thorough with marking any existing dents and scratches. The car was in great shape, and it was a pleasure to drive it around Iceland.

Dropping off the car went smoothly as well. No hidden fees or additional charges for anything (I had read a lot of reviews about other car rental companies in Iceland that charged for bogus damage).

I would definitely rent with them again!

We were very happy with our experience with Reykjavik Cars. We picked up our car in downtown Reykjavik. Although our car was delayed due to the specific car we rented was damaged on return and due to high travel season and no similar car was available at the time, but without going into too much details, we were very pleased with how they handled the situation. The car - Subaru Forester was in great condition and as a surprise we were even given a free brand new GPS which turned out to be a great help in navigating in our circle tour of the whole Iceland. We dropped off the car near the airport and once again the whole experience was easy and pleasant and they dropped us at the airport. To sum it all up, Reykjavik Cars has very competitive rates, quality cars and great professional service. I would highly recommend them to anyone! Thank you!
