In March, you need to bring spikey cramp-ons. The snow is deep and getting back down is harder than going up. Awesome views. Icicles are pretty awesome too.

Pretty cool even in the winter. You can climb the snow to the mouth of the crevasse but I didn't venture in too far because I didn't want to disturb the birds that nest there.

Came here when it was stormy and foggy, the stillness inside the gorge only made it more beautiful.

As an Icelander I've been here several times but I still stop here every time to wade through the stream to the end.

Beautiful stop even when snowing. There is no clear path in the winter but as long as you download an offline map and are careful it is definitely worth the trip.

100% worth. Views are amazing and the Gorge itself isn't that far of a walk from the parking lot. Make sure to bring some waterproof hiking boots.

Cool to see, easily accessible. Climb as far as you dare inside or up the steep hill on the side of the mountain for a great view.

The gorge is striking and gives numerous opportunities for great photos. The climb to the back of the gorge is really fun, but it can be challenging for those who are not used to climbing rocks. It's always flowing with water. Part of the way back, you'll need to climb up a small waterfall using a knotted rope. It's tough and I don't think there is any way to do it without AT LEAST your bottom half getting soaked. Watch for falling ice, I got nailed by a piece that one of the seagulls must have loosened. Be prepared to get wet, but don't be afraid to explore this amazing gorge.

Loved this so much, nice little hike up, wear waterproof everything if you can. Going in feels so special, don't forget to look up and see the opening. I went on a day with lots of rain showers, and it didn't make the experience any less, so if you have a rainy day to use up, go here! Right off the road, a gravel road and packing spaces (free), make sure to read the story of the gorge!

Great experience! We went even though it was showering and it was so worth it! The hike is a bit challenging depending on your fitness but as you approach the gorge and also go inside it, you feel like you're in a different world! A must see!

Interesting gorge. You can have a look inside and even try to climb up a bit on stones in the river. But it's quite slippery and gets more narrow the further you go up it.

Nice short walk, the gorge is huge. You have to hop over some stones in a creek to get inside.

Bring your waterproof boots - you can walk into the ravine on stepping stones and you don't want to miss that! You can walk a fair ways up the stream like this (and really far if you don't mind getting wet from clambering up rocks). You technically can get into the ravine without waterproof shoes/boots (and we did see people like this) but a misplaced step will get your socks all wet and that is not fun, especially when you'd have to walk like 5 minutes back to the car with drenched socks/shoes.

Great experience you don't want to miss! If you don't mind getting a little wet, you can climb up the gorge for about 50 metres until there's a little waterfall and a rope to get up there. Kind of an adventure! We stopped at this point because we didn't want to get soaked. Bring hiking shoes and waterproof clothes and don't take expensive camera equipment because it will get wet!

Fascinating area. You can climb up and into the unknown! It appears that the seabirds use this hidden alcove to nest in great numbers.
I did not have appropriate footwear, so I did not enter the ravine proper, but I am sure it is even more exciting inside.
Make sure to take a moment to enjoy the view of surrounding mountains and ocean on your way back down too!

Came across this by accident (noticed the carpark and stopped to see what it was). We climbed as deep into the gorge as possible and we're rewarded with a small frozen waterfall. Well worth the stop.

Worth a stop. Bring waterproof shoes or waders if you want to enter the gorge. Lots of cliff birds wheeling overhead.

Small gorge. Could not "climb" as far inside the gorge as I wanted to. Still a fun place to quickly check out and the view from outside the gorge is beautiful.

A quick walk from the parking area just off the main road. The gorge is only easily accessible for 10 or 15 meters, then becomes a bit trickier for another 25, then there's the rope ladder in the waterfall, to go further would require a full soaking.

Awesome spot, though I did not see a rope inside as mentioned in other review. You do have to walk through the stream, but it is not bad at all, especially with boots. The rocks are not slippery, and 100% worth it inside.
