A unique experience in Iceland, I'm glad I tried it. I drank a whole bottle of it and didn't die. I'm alive and healthy, 3.5 months later. It's true that ingesting too much iron at once can be harmful, but I read that the iron levels in mineral springs like this one are not high enough to hurt you, even if it turns the ground red with rust.

It did taste a little funny, but not really that bad. I say you should try it too, just don't dump all your water bottles out to fill up with this water. One bottle is probably enough.

Wow, it's still flowing in the frozen abyss of November. I had low expectations that 1) there was water available and 2)if there was, it would taste terrible. Since I wasn't expecting much, it was a novelty stop to drink up from the ever flowing pump. It wasn't too bad, but my friends thought it was bad. Worth a sip!

I wanted this to be great, brought a water bottle and all paid the little donation fee and it is absolutely disgusting semi-fizzy, bloody Tylenol water. I should have brought it back to the states to be tested by my friend who does that to see if it's still as good for you but I can say it was certainly not worth a stop beyond now knowing it's not worth a stop. Its fizzy-ish water coming from a spout, that's cool, not gonna lie, and maybe it's the fountain of youth, but I'll never know cuz it's undrinkable.

Taste like rusty water. The Rauðamelsölkelda spring taste better. Also cost 200 ISK to get water from the well.

Definitely has some 'sparkling' feel from the water but my first taste reminds me of rustiness. Potentially could have traces of rust added to the water that resulted in the 'beer' like taste.

Its an 'ol tap sticking off the ground, but out comes sparkling water (for real) with a peculiar taste (like really really diluted beer). The water is supposed to be good for the heart, kidneys and for the diabetic. But then again, that study was done a few centuries ago.

The water tastes like a highly carbonated gose to me. The pump looked like a vampire lords blood spout. Worth a stop if you are passing by and you get to say you did it. Bring your own cup.

The place itself is of no beauty. The photos you may find indeed shows what it looks like: just a rusty tap. However the water here is one of the best mineral waters ever. You may get some for free to take with you (do not forget spare bottles!).
