Arrived late but they thankfully accommodated us. Food was really good. I thought, given that it was on a touristy street it might have been a tourist trap but it really is not. The food is of really good quality. I'd recommend it to anyone.

The food and service were top notch! We had the special "Fish of the Day" which was Golden Redfish. That was new to me but really tasty.

I had the most delicious shellfish soup with chuncks of fish here. The lamb was also really good. No complains about anything
The atmosphere was nice, quite and the staff super friendly.
I think it was a bit pricey (or maybe average for Icelandic standards), but I think is worth it due the portions and flavor. The ticket of this payment is right there so you can judge yourselves.

Was a bit skeptical that this may be a tourist trap but was proved wrong. Probably one of the best meal we had in Iceland. Came in around lunch time and the dishes were still amazing. Great quality of lamb, fish. Loved all dishes we ordered.

Expensive and fairly small portions like all of Iceland, but it was delicious. We had the fish of the day, which was locally caught. There was a great mustard and cream sauce on top.

Service was great too. They even took our picture when requested.

Really cozy restaurant, helpful and friendly staff, and absolutely delicious food. They offer a 5 course fish tasting menu that looked great. Had the cod and ling. The ling was a touch tastier of the two, but both were plated professionally with delicious sides (probably the best carrots I've ever had in my life!)

Had the fish tasting menu here and it ended up being one of the top tasting menus I've ever enjoyed. The service was fun and friendly. They aren't practiced in fine dining and certain little things would be off so if you are expecting that you might be puzzled why it is rated so high. I think this is just the culture in Iceland. And it didn't really matter. The chef just floored us with every single dish. Yes, it was expensive because Iceland. Yes, it was expensive because tasting menu. It was worth every penny. I would make a return trip without question.

Fish soup - Spoonfuls of ecstasy. Made as a foam and was just out of the world.
The lamb - Seriously Was this really lamb or were they masquerading A5 Wagyu as lamb? I usually favor the non meat selections but this was heavenly.

Absolutely gorgeous fish dishes, fresh, delicious, full of flavour. Tried catch of the day, cod, shellfish soup as a starter and a rhubarb cake plus brownie as desserts. What an amazing place. Gets busy after 6:30pm, would recommend to book a table.

I cannot do justice to this restaurant with words. This is a gem. The menu is brief, but regardless off your selection, you cannot go wrong with any of the fish selections or the lamb. We had the arctic char, ling, wolf fish, cod, and lamb on three consecutive nights (may sound repetitive but you haven't eaten there yet). The presentations were attractive, the portions were good, the flavors were well developed, the food was cooked to perfection, and every bite was bliss. If you only eat there once have the brownie for dessert. It won't be like any you've had before and it won't be a let down after that fantastic fish or lamb you just had. Your second option should be the very traditional Icelandic rhubarb cake. On a less than stellar note the creme brule is like any you've ever had but with an inexplicable scoop of strawberry sorbet on the side-- it doesn't work. Reservation are a MUST.

Great! We had the fish soup and catch of the day lunch specials. Delicious - if we were here longer, we would go back! Very friendly and accommodating staff as well.

I ate here because it was close to my hotel and I wanted to experience some really nice, fine dining in Iceland. The food was good, but the service was less than exemplary. Considering what I was paying, I expect to be better served by more attentive staff. The atmosphere was not at all what I hoped. It certainly wasn't my favorite place to eat while I was travelling here.

Brilliant! Just brilliant! Had two meals there, Cod and lamb and both were amazing! Nicest Cod Iv ever had and the lamb melts in the mouth. Nice portion sizes to; not to big, is on the pricy side but well worth it if u want the Icelandic experience! A must go to if in Iceland.

Welcoming and attentive staff. Every dish of the three course menu was extremely delicious. The plates were - as you can see - beautifully decorated and the quality of the food seemed high. The salmon melted in the mouth, the lamb was extraordinary.
As expected the dishes weren‘t very big and the prices on the higher side. Nonetheless it was definitely worth the expenses for me. I recommend it to every lover of meat and/or someone who wants to get an idea how icelandic food tastes.

One of the top ten meals I have had in the last 20 years! It takes a LOT to impress me and they absolutely surpassed my expectations. The presentation of the meal was perfect and unpretentious, the staff was helpful, and the first taste put a huge smile on my face.
My wife is a vegetarian and they amazed her as well. I will be going back to Iceland next year for an art gallery show as a guest artist and will make it a point to go here and be amazed!

Hands down the best Icelandic traditional shellfish soup and traditional lamb soup. Freshly served and friendly service. Highly recommended and two very happy customers.

Had lunch here on a cold and snowy November day. The luncheon soup was superb, remarkably well cooked and served, with beautiful lustrous drops of dill oil setting off the cream in the fish soup, which was well stocked with firm-fleshed fish.

The other luncheon offer was the catch of the day, which was a lovely bass very well prepared and accompanied by excellently prepared cauliflower and a very nice sweet potato mash.

Ambiance is nice, very relaxed, and the service was excellent. Highly recommended!!!

We were here for Christmas Eve dinner December 2016 when we were on our honeymoon and it was so magical! The atmosphere was just perfect and it started snowing while we were having dinner. The food and drinks were great and we will always remember this amazing restaurant and night!

Brilliant. Went for lunch, the was two choices, meat soup or veg soup. My meat one was delicious. The bread was light and equally delicious. Atmosphere is great. Cosy sums it up nicely.

Wow. Just wow. So when I first called and heard that reservations would stop being taken at 6, I gave our group (wife, mother and baby). Granted with a baby, we were late, but the table was still available. Great start

Sure with our infant, we had to take turns walking outside, but the drinks, appetizers and bread that first came were remarkable!

Then while having him in there with us, the main courses were superb! Trying to find something for our son, we were told no pasta (the chef prob scoffed! ☺️). We asked him to merely make a fish dish with veggies and amazing!

So employees, appetizers, drinks, main courses, child's main course, dessert and dessert wine were all wonderful! Couldn't get any higher to starting our vacation (first dinner)!

Best Cod in Iceland.after trying cod everyday all over the country!

One of my favorite parts of visiting Iceland was the terrifically prepared and extremely fresh cod in every little town's restaurant, small or big. After 1200 years of eating cod, the Icelanders clearly have it down perfectly. Cod can be easily overwhelmed with strong sauce and ruined by overlooking. But the old Iceland restaurant had the perfect balance.
and that is from a woman who has spent a Life time in Maine on the coast, who eats haddock at least once a week.
So even in that top 5% of the best cod, the old Iceland restaurant cod with new potatoes and champagne is the gold star winner.
Highly recommend, even if you are not a big fish fan. This cod could change your taste buds.

The food is absolutely delicious. It's worth overlooking some flaws in service. The seasoning was perfect and everything we tried was great: the langoustine, the lamb, the rhubarb pie, the salmon AWESOME. It's pricey but the quality is there.
The chef seems to be a young man to follow attentively!

Don't let the name fool you - this is not a tourist trap, but rather a cosy, semi-upscale place with great food. The lamb and cod were excellent. Plus they have cool wall murals of different fish, whales and animals.

I enjoyed everything of my dinner in this small restaurant, bread and salty butter included. I had a cod beautifully cooked a delicious salmon as a starter and both with many greens all differently cooked.
The service kind and helpfulp. The only negative note is the price quite high but in line with local standards. A place to go if a good meal is a must of your trip

The portion here is so tiny it's good for people on diet. The flavor is Ok but not five star level. The picture is not left over, but before I took a bite.

Small but really good restaurant in Reykjavik. They are next door to our hotel so that was convenient. It was a little warm inside but we'll take that over the freezing temperature outside. The traditional seafood soup is really good.

Very fish focused restaurant, unique dishes. Prices are fairly high. Especially the few meat options. But the dishes tasted well! Atmosphere was very nice though. Service was very quick and friendly.
