A beautiful lake just a short drive from Reykjavik. Instead of taking the standard route from Blue Lagoon, drive south, then along the coast and pass this lake when going back North to Reykjavik.
So beautiful and untouched
One of my favorite parts of visiting Iceland! The water was partly iced over, and one section was FULL of swans. Ample stops for parking and hiking trails make this location perfect for anyone to visit. Amazingly beautiful in winter.
Big beautiful lake. It's very deep so be careful!
Spectacular. Must see.
This is a great location for watching and photographing Northern lights. Just beware that if you have an older camera, the auto focus will likely not work in the dark as there is nothing in the foreground for you to focus on. A work around is to set your focus to a bit less than infinity, which is how I took my picture.
I had a dry suit training at Kleifarvatn. Water comes from underground so even if I had lots of water during a training, it was okay. In July, I could see many of lupine and other flowers. It's also beautiful.
Beautiful and wild
I was there in February with couple new friends and it is the most magical place I've been to in a while. This lake and the mountains covered in snow is so beautiful! Especially on a sunny day. Memories I'll never forget.
