we stayed close by and this was our morning view. stunning in the glorious sunshine compared to the day before when it loomed imposing in the mist and rain of a torrential storm.

Worth the trip. If you are a fan of Game of Thrones you cannot miss this one. Located right on the highway. You must deal with the hordes of selfie-taking tourists, but worth the trip to the peninsula for this beautiful work of nature.

One of the most beautiful mountains in the world and respectfully hard to climb. If you decide to climb it, make sure to contact local farmer and ask for permission. It is not a hard climb and there are fix robs up there. But it is really easy to fall so me very careful.

Very pretty, but must be viewed from the right angle to look like the pictures--we drove right past the mountain the first time without realizing it. Get a shot from behind the waterfalls. Long exposure will help you make the other people disappear. @sethcooley

Beautiful mountain, highly recommend at least attempting the VERY steep climb. Kirkjufell is a lot bigger than it looks, so even just getting up to the "second level" offers great views.

AMZING SIGHT!!!! Unique mountain in Iceland with waterfalls and the sea! A must see place when you visit Iceland!!! Not far from the village and easy to get from Reykjavik!

It's one of the "Must See" places in Iceland for a good reason. The waterfalls and the mountain make a very good "couple" and offer interesting photographing opportunities. The spot is easily accessible and not far from Reykjavik, suitable for a one day trip.

A pretty sight! It was unique to have it in our backyard (our group stayed at one of the cabins at its base) and the sunsets behind it are beautiful. I would give it maybe just a 4 if only passing by but still worth stopping to see. You can climb to the top and I have heard the views are amazing from up there, but we did not have time to do so.

I really had my focus on this mountain. I heard it was a dream for every photographer, however for me it was really overrated. It is very nice and with the perfect wether and sun position it can be bueatiful. But in my 2 weeks trip I have seen many far more bueatiful locations than this.

Aloha! My dream come true to see this gem of a view. I'm tired of looking at photos of this place and finally I have seen it with my own eyes. We seen it with snow. Simply gorgeous and easy to photograph. With the waterfalls next to it creates an amazing landscape photo. Plus we get to play with horses!!!

Incredible mountain. The shape is very unusual and impressive!
We managed to hike at the top, but be aware that this is not for those suffering from vertigo. The mountain is VERY steep and don't be fooled by the shape, it looks small but it is actually 463m tall, so about a 3h hike.
There are no easy path to follow, some tracks even lead to very treacherous terrain, where a misstep can lead to death pretty quickly, so be careful! At the top of the mountain there is a rope to help climb the last couple meters, but at this point you must trust your abilities. The climb up will reward you with an incredible view of the surroundings.response / report this review -

Stunning, oddly shaped mountain. Climbing to the top is a bit challenging but it is quite easy and scenic to walk around its base, starting from the road opposite the waterfall just out of grundarfjordur
