Cute native animal zoo, with a bonus reptile/insect/ amphibian house.

We were here close to the end of November and we had almost the entire zoo/ park to ourselves. The kids loved so much that we went back a couple days later. The horses were fun to pet. The boat playground was one of their favorites. There is also this orange semi oval music station that plays Icelandic pop music.

Was here during the mid-end month of Nov. Practically have the whole place to ourselves. Most of the animals are in the warm huts around.

We went on a quiet day when few people were around. When we were there the facility was entirely self guided. Our favourite animals were the three seals swimming and playing in their tank. Indoors there were cows, sheep, and goats, while outside were three or four horses and a pair of reindeer. Loose birds included ducks and swans, while caged were chickens and roosters, a hawk, budgies, and what I believe were different types of pigeons.
There is also an insect/reptile room but we moved through it rather quickly. There is a small gift shop at the exit with mostly toys and stuffed animals. The two individual washrooms are free to use. They have change tables but were a little dirtier than I prefer - no surprise in Iceland. We spent about 45 minutes and were almost alone so it was absolutely worth the 800 or 900Kr each that we paid.response / report this review -

Great place for kids with reasonably cheap entry and a wide variety of things to do for an hour or two. The zoo section is pretty small and just has your standard farm animals along with a reptile and nocturnal section thrown in. There is also a play area which spans half the zoo with plenty to do including climbing frames, zorbs and a few rides.

The "zoo" wasn't a zoo. It was well suited 4kids. It mostly contain regular farm animals except for the hreyndr, the seals, and the fox. But the garden park makes up for the smallness of the zoo. I could have rated 4stars if not 4thezoo.

A better zoo for families with smaller children. For the most part, the animals here are farm animals but the seals are great to see up close. Too bad their area isnt larger to let them swim a little deeper or have a larger sunning area. And it's a shame for its size though that the larger animals, the cows, sheep and pigs don't have larger spaces to roam about.

Very nice animal park! Good variety of animals, especially nordic ones like reindeer, seals, a couple of arctic foxes and Icelandic horses. Some attractions are closed during winter, anyway worth to visit as well as the close botanical garden.
