This was my one of my favorite waterfalls along the South Coast of Iceland! You are able to hike along a small trail to a small viewing platform right next to the water. The views we're absolutely incredible. You can't miss Gullfoss!

Big, beautiful waterfall. You can see it from upstairs and downstairs (each has its own parking lot). We went on a rainy and cloudy evening. There were very few visitors when we went (only 2 other cars) but I'm assuming that's not normal. On the lower level you can walk past the waterfall and get closer to it near the river.

It was intense to feel the power of the water. Waterproof clothing is not bad for the visit. The waterfall pushes the water up us well creating a small shower near it. The path is wet at some places slippery.

Beautiful example of waterfalls in Iceland. Worth the stop if travelling the golden circle. Lots of tourists even in low season. The gorge that is cut by the river is by far more interesting and beautiful than the actual waterfall. Multiple viewing points are available for different perspectives over the entire area and up close to the side 9f the river by the falls.

Just wow. You can feel the water in your face! :-) Visited in april, great weather. This is spot on earth, when you can just stay still and feel the earth, what can do. It empowers you. On site is useful information about history of this place.

Ok the Golden Circle and easy to reach. You don’t have to walk to much to see it compared to other waterfalls. Nice colours in April. Popular with tourists.

Gulfoss waterfall will blow you away. It's massive and the man made staircase provides the spectator with a few very scenic vantage points. Be warned if visited in water dress very, very warm and the pathway is very icy. I walked on the sides of the walkway for balance. It is a hypnotic view. Stunning

Truly stunning waterfall so picturesque and very different to normal waterfalls as it cascades down two big falls. It may not be as big or wide as Niagara but I've been to both and the setting this is in is extraordinary well worth a visit 👍👍 again restaurant and toilets on site and car park was free.

Gullfoss otherwise known as Golden Falls is an impressive must see on the diamond circle. This waterfall is a very popular attraction for visitors because of its pure massiveness and easy access. This beautiful waterfall has well maintained paths both on the lower and upper ledge of the canyon where you have a great view of the powerful waterfall. It's been known to create an impressive full rainbow with the mist from the falls when the sun is just right.

Awesome place to go and see. Went in January and it was mind blowing to see such a massive waterfall almost completely frozen over. Definitely worth the drive out to see it. Free entry/parking too. Wheelchair accessible

Great waterfall view, even in winter. Would love to visit again in summer. There are two parking areas, we used the lower area which was closer to falls. Upper area had stairs leading you down to viewing area where we parked. I will say the wind was so wicked strong it made my eyes water as I took these pictures so I wasn't even sure I got good ones. Kids and I made this a quick stop since it was so windy and we wanted to get to Geysir before dark with limited daylight hours left.

Amazing experience! We visited Gullfoss (the translation is Golden Waterfall due to the colour reflection when sun faces it) with the Golden Circle Tour of the Reykjavik Excursions and it was one of the most remarkable places that we have visited in Iceland. Unfortunately due to the winter conditions, many recommended paths, from our tourist guide, were closed. Also, the cold there was from another world, but take into account that I am Greek! Highly recommended, place and with enough signs to navigate you and give you relevant info about this tourist attraction!

Mother Nature has delivered this more exciting landscape in Iceland! Despite 10am, there was no sun when we arrived. In fact, it was snowing quite a bit. The views of the two waterfalls is very nice indeed. This part of the Golden Circle tour is the most exciting of the day

Spectacular cascading unspoilt glacial waterfall. An essential natural vista not to be missed. Several viewpoints. But you proceed with caution on the upper section there are no barriers and it is possible to slip into the river, moving down the steps to the lower viewing area can be very slippery when wet or icy. But worth every effort.

The ultimate European waterfall. Simple as that. Mere words don't do it justice. In terms of your visit, get there early. Especially in winter, given the extremely short days. In December 2016, I visited in the late afternoon and needed a tripod to get passable pictures. In early November 2017, there was great light at around 11:00 and shorter exposures produced good results.

Beautiful waterfall.

Like many of the other places on the Golden Circle route, it does feel more "commercialized" or "touristy" than some of the less popular places. That didn't really detract from my experience (did I mention the waterfall is beautiful?), but it may be something that others care about, so yeah.

A perfect spot to end off a day of exploring the Golden circle. While I don't agree golden circle is enough representation of the rest of iceland, Gullfoss is probably one of the more accurate representation of the beautiful falls in the country.

You must take your time to see all the perspective of this falls; from afar, near the different edges, the part near the ravine at the edge will show you it's power and the side walk will let you experience the water spray. The walk up to the viewing stand will let you see its shape and source of river and with a bit of sun, expect some rain bow as well.

I see why it's the favorite waterfall in Iceland. You can hike right into the middle of it in about 3 minutes! A word to the wise however wear something waterproof like snow pants or bring a change of clothes because being amidst all that mist made us soaked. So awesome!

Great place to visit. Fantastic waterfall, several levels to see it from including right next to it. The viewpoint above is also a great place to take photos from. The visitor centre, shop and cafe is also worth a visit, but as usual in Iceland, especially the tourist hotspots, the items are quite pricey. The toilet block is for public use at a fee, but inside the cafe/shop building the toilets are free.

Wow, such a wonderful waterfall! It's great that you can see it both from the top and the bottom. It's huge and beautiful, definitely a must see. We were there at approx. 6 pm and it wasn't very crowded at that time.

A fantastic set of falls. The path is clear, easy to walk, and surrounded by flowers. You will get wet but not as wet as it looks like you would from the start of the trail. The falls send a fine mist up into the air and you get to walk through it to the final viewing area. Despite the large number of tourists here, there is plenty of room to comfortably view the falls.

A standard stop on the popular Golden Circle tour common to any visit to Iceland, and it's easy to understand why: it's a fantastically photogenic waterfall. The paths have been significantly tamed recently, with more manicured walkways and larger amounts of rope to keep people at bay. Midges can be a major pest here, but they don't bite; all they do is swarm all about your face.

The size and volume of this waterfall are amazing. Many other stops on the Golden Circle have superior examples of their type (Geysir and Kerid have Yellowstone and Crater Lake for example). Gullfoss is really world class beauty. Just wish there was a way to get a little closer.

An amazing place. We'll worth the visit. There is a parking lot that you can drive down to near the river at the base of the falls.
We Didn't stay too long as it was windy, cold and wet but it was definitely worth the visit.

Wow wow wow and wow. Came here on a lovely sunny day in March. Snow on the ground ice all around the falls. So impressive. Hire a car and do the golden circle yourself so you can take your time to enjoy this place and not be rushed off by your tour guide.

The waterfall is huge and really turbulent. It's an amazing sight to see. The best comparison that I know oils probably be Niagara Falls, although they are much taller and larger. Gullfoss is free to enter, the area is gorgeous, and there is a large gift shop/restaurant with bathrooms.
