Not so much a zoo As a small garden with a few random animals and lots of empty spaces.

The cattle are absolutely miserable. The seals look to be trying to have an enjoyable time in the over bleached and small habitat. A fox with patches of fur missing down in the corner penn cried the entire time I was there. It hurt to see how how some of these animals were being treated. Even if you have a pass that gains you free entry, please do not enter. My visit took place in April of 2017.

Had a really lovely time at the zoo today, the price was fair for a small place. Seeing the seals, reindeer, Icelandic horses, Icelandic foxes, minks, friendly birds and farm animals made this a place I would recommend to anyone.

This zoo is quite nice. The animals seem well cared for and quite friendly - petted sheep, goats, and the pigs. The seals are awesome and funny.

Loved going round and dead quiet. Easy way to see some unusual Arctic animals but not a huge zoo takes a while to find and not long to go round!

It's a shame that it's so beautiful outside and most of the animals were still in their pens. Getting really close to the seals was especially cool but they need a much larger area to swim and sunbathe. Nothing too exotic here but the kids loved running around the parks. The Volvo diggers and the ship playground were big hits.

Animals generally seemed well cared for. I'm hoping that the pigs and cows were only inside for feeding, and that otherwise they would be outside in the big grassy pastures. The seals were stressed out - doing repitive behavior which is generally a symptom of captivity. They need a bigger, cleaner aquatic enclosure. They were the last exhibit we saw, and I left feeling sorry for the seals with a pit in my stomach.

Do not go to this zoo. It's the worst zoo I've ever been to, the animals are in tiny cages and look sick, it's a miserable animal prison. I think it should be shut down. There are cows and pigs in cages bathroom sized sitting in there own feces. It was sad. Not worth the 8 dollars they charge, do not waste your time. There's only a few types of animals any way.

This pin is in the WRONG location. The zoo is in the park near botanic gardens, not here!! Save yourself some grief and look for the landmark called Fjölskyldugarðurinn (which is the local word for it) on the map for the real location.
Zoo is excellent, our 4,6,9 yo kids loved it, and we spent 4-5 hours there on a sunny summers day playing and seeing the animals.response / report this review
