One of my favorite campsites. Reception is nice. Has plenty of bathrooms, 2 showers for each gender, and the 2 sets of laundry machines with free laundry detergent. There are also sinks outside for washing dishes. And free water fill ups. Price was 1900isk per person, kind of expensive but worth it. Laundry ended up being 1600isk total for one load (wash and dry) and only takes 100isk coins.
You can even stop and just shower or use the bathroom, for a small fee. They have a honesty box for you to drop money in when reception is closed.
Only downside is that none of the bathrooms had soap.

This campsite is ok. The bathrooms are very nice and spacious, but the ladies showers were broken. The part where the detachable showerhead attaches to the wall was broken clean off in both showers, meaning you had to hold the detachable showerhead the whole time. While it isn’t that big of a deal, it was still a bit annoying. There is no kitchen here, just a microwave and two small tables. Washing machines and dryers looked nice, but cost money (Kronur- Icelandic coins). The campground itself is nice and located really close to a gas station if you need last minute supplies!

Good campsite. Nice showers (two per gender) with hot water and soap. Plenty of toilets. Might get crowded during the busier season. They have a washer and dryer (need coins, 300 KR each).

Open 24/7 even in the winter. Hot showers included with campsite fee. Laundry for 400isk. Convenient location not far from the ring road.

A lot of people come to this one, even in winter. Nice campsite good facilities, including a warm shower and clean toilets. You can wash your dishes inside, but you have to cook outside. When no one is available they operate on an honesty system, and you leave the money in the honesty box, so you'll need cash.

Basic bathrooms and sink to clean your dishes, no kitchen though. Really nice position right in the center of the town, walking distance to all stores. Staff was really nice as well.

Awesome! Camped here New Years Eve as me and my wife were making our way around the ring road. We drove through snow storms all along the east so it was nice to be able to get somewhere with hot showers and a small little kitchen. There are even washers and dryers if you need them. I can't speak for the summer but this place was a godsend for winter camping. It is ALWAYS open, you just need to go around to the door on the side. Another good thing is that they take Euros or American Dollars (tho they prefer ISK)!

Stayed here in a camper van for 1 night in late September.

The camp site is located inside the town, which is good if you want to visit nearby cafes or restaurants (of which there are not that many in Egilsstadir), not so good if you're looking for a more rugged or scenic camping experience.

The site itself was busy when we camped here and we basically couldn't fit inside to use any of the inside facilities other than bathroom/showers the next morning.

The bathrooms facilities were not very clean, but reasonable given the amount of traffic; Multiple toilets and showers are available for both men and women with plenty of hot water. I found the showers sorely missed a rack or dry area to place clothing and get changed.

The camp area itself is a flat, open, grassy field. Not bad but also not much in the way of wind shielding or privacy.

The staff at reception were nice and I was able to pay by card or cash.

Excellent! The showers are free, so is the electricity. The woman at the reception is very nice and friendly and she gave us useful information on what to do and see nearby. Really appreciated that, we discovered places that we couldn't never know of otherwise.

The workers are so friendly. Price is about 1500is for person in camping, with showed and bathroom. They server washing machine and dryer if you pay for it, and have coffee/tea. WiFi is 400is.

Have a common room where to hang out on rainy days and eat.

They offer lots of information, including road conditions and weather in Iceland.

Is in bus station.

Good campsite with good amenities. There is a laundry facility on site. Nice bathrooms, showers are free to use if you're staying at the campsite. There is a big common area with a TV and plenty of plugs for charging electronics. Cafe next door and some other restaurants within walking distance.

Probably the nicest camping site I experienced in Iceland. Decent size with decent shelter. Washrooms clean and larger than you'll get in more popular areas. Free showers!!! One sheltered outdoor cooking facility. Would definitely recommend!

The best (and one of the cheapest) campsites we stayed at on our trip around the ring road. Also, HOT showers! I appreciated the warm water more than ever in this place! Also the sink faucets were high so we could easily fit our water bottles under them to refill. There was a nice playground for kids too.

After doing the full ring road, this was easily the best campsite. Prices are very reasonable, if not cheap. Tons of useful information posted on the board, clearly updated regularly by mindful staff. Clean bathrooms and showers, clean communal area, large parking lot, well lit environment. Not your stop if you're looking for a camping site, but a beacon of comfort for those that have suffered the rainy season of the south and need a reset along the ring road.

First camping to be open during our tour on March. The people at the camp are warm and friendly. You can park, take a hot shower, use the sinks and use the toilets for (1500ISK per persons). Additionally you can wash and dry your clothes for 800ISK. It is really clean and heated. We really enjoyed it and would recommend it.

I haven't been to any open campsites this winter, so Egilsstaðir's already gets 4 stars for that. On top of that it was clean, had several toilets, two showers for each gender, as well as being nice and warm inside.

The site also seems not to be crazy windy, which is great in Iceland, when your heater doesn't work.

One of the best campsites we've stayed at on our trip. Wifi is fast, but camp close to the building if you want reception in your tent. The office doubles as info center and bus station. Washing machine is slow and pricey, but at least it has a dryer.

The facilities that are on offer are fantastic. Very clean shower and toilet, and plenty of hot water. A camp kitchen would be useful but we were welcomed to use the reception area once our meals were cooked which had plenty of tables. There is also a semi sheltered cooking area.
