Amazing views but be aware that the winds can be incredibly powerful. I'm 220 pounds and i was getting knocked around by the wind. The wind gusts knocked me off my feet a couple of times. You have to drive up a dirt road to get there but we managed to do it in a Fiat 500X.

Definitely a must see on your trip through Iceland. The view is simply stunning. You have the mysterious black beach, the endless sea, the majestic mountains, the lonely lighthouse, various spectacular cliffs and the big arc in the water. It's windy out there, so get yourself something warm and watch your steps.

Beautiful spot. Great view over the black beach. Worth the efforts to go up there. A SUV is recommended, if not available you can still walk.

Extremely beautiful place. We arrived right before sunset and it was magical. You can see far away. Black beach on one side and a beautiful rock formation on the other. Made by the ocean.
The way up is very steep so you need to be a confident driver when it's slippery outside.
Otherwise you can park further down by the information/lavatories house and walk up closer to the water.

This place is a must see! It offers amazing views of the surrounding area. The road to the top is safe as long as you pay attention to what you are doing and it is recommended you only travel it in a 4x4. This is one of my favorite places in southern Iceland.

Most breath taking views from this place! We visited in February so it wasn’t very busy. Black sand beaches on either side of the Peninsula, a flurry of birds flying around and the freshest ocean breeze!!

This small trek is worth every step! The coastline is AMAZING! The lighthouse is a beautiful topper for that Icelandic cliff. Stop by. It’s free!

We drove to the parking lot next to the lighthouse after following a rather steeply graded gravel road. The view from there merited the drive. Getting out of the car and walking to the end of the trail was magical as we watched the changing light due to the setting sun. The surf on the black sand beach contrasted with the snow and basalt mountains. Worth a detour.

Amazing views of the ocean and the coast line. You can walk down from the lighthouse all the way to the beach but it is a long walk. Felt like 1 km.

We went in the winter in an economy rental car and the drive up to the lighthouse was steep and a one car road. For an experienced winter driver its not hard but a little nerve wracking. If you aren't comfortable driving there is another spot at sea level you can park and walk up.

It's worth it. One of our favourites stops in Iceland.

I am only giving this 4 stars because the day I was there is was VERY foggy and therefore you couldn't see father than 50 yards so we missed the view. With that said this is a VERY beautiful area with lots of black sand beaches. There are a lot of black sand beaches in Iceland but this place really has a different feel to it.

If I ever go back to Iceland I will definitely reserve half a day to hang out here on the beach and hopefully the sun will be out the next time. Loved this place!
