Travelling in April, the campsite facilities were closed but the spot is great. Near the lake, very quiet place
Nice camping, a bit expensive for what it has to offer, compared to other campsites in Iceland. We payed 2700 ISK for two people and our camper, clean bathrooms, two free showers, possibility to do your laundry, no common room but outdoor seating area. Very large spaces to put up your tent or camping car, beautiful scenery.
No hot water. Huge camping ground, though.
Great campsite, nice facilities with private toilets and showers available. Small outdoor seating area. Beautiful views. We arrived around 2300, very friendly staff came around to collect payment the next morning before we left. Not crowded at all and very spacious. Would stay here again.
Stopped here to flush the motorhome tanks/ toilet. Good facilities and close to the national park.
Didn't sleep there, but the views of the lake was very nice! Although it seemed a bit exposed for camping. Was also equipped with a toilet building.
Between this campground and the one right by the information center (about 4km north), this one has much better views (it is right on the lake), is smaller/quieter, and is tent-only. That said, it's also a farther bike ride or hike (if that matters to you), is further from services and hiking trails, is littered with geese droppings, gets a bit of traffic from fisherfolk in the early morning, and has field mice that may or may not try to nibble into your tent if you have food in there. None of these things should necessarily dissuade you from this camping spot, but for our second night in Thingvellir, we did end up cycling north to the site by the visitor's center (both spots, indeed, are the same price).
Multiple camping grounds, I stayed at the one close to the lake. On that, only tents are permitted. The location is pretty, only be prepared for strong wind!
Small food/coffee shop. A lot of space for tents and campers. Shower and toilets are presnet but hot water runs out very quickly. Moskitos are to be expected.
Amazing views, great campsite right by the lake
