More than spectacular to see! Not only do you witness the power of Icelands winds bringing in the waves/current onto the beach, but we were among a wreckage that looks right out of a movie. One of my favorite places in Iceland!

Really interesting stop if you’re going around Snæfellsnes. Apparently this was were fisherman used to prove their strength by lifting heavy stones. The pebble beach is amazing, such smooth rocks and pebbles, remnants of a ship wreck and nice views of the glacier behind

If you thought Vic beach was the best, this place definitely gives it a run for the money. The smaller crowds (visited in April) make the experience all that more authentic. Here are many rock caves and spires to explore on both sides of the beach area. Plot this spot on your map and make the stop, you won't regret it!

There are several paths to take in this site. The first is a while chair accessible short road to a view on the beach.
The second path goes straight to the beach and it is not while chair accessible, but it is still suitable to young kids.
The last path is a more challenging path along the cliff. You can take a 1.2 km (or just shy of 1 mile) to a view point above the beach or take a 3 km (2 miles) along the cliff.

Was a stormy day.. But what a place.. Tranquil on one side.. And turn around, walked a few paces the seas where a whirl,
Only adding to the wonder,
Enjoyed the sights, exploration of the visit.
Good layers on that stood up to the weather.So glad I toke water ski pants in bag.,popped those on, so the visit was not bothered by the weather.

A beautiful black sand beach with a rugged coastline. We enjoyed learning about the budding fishermen (and women!!) having to prove their strength in lifting stones of various weights. It was sad to see the shipwreck and learn about the loss of life here. I'd recommend going here to anyone who finds themselves on the Snaefellsnes peninsula. Just watch out for the 'sneaker' waves. Stay safe.

Beautiful black sand beach, a must-see! It takes only a few minutes to get to the beach from the parking lot. There is another short path to a viewpoint that looks down from above.

Aloha! One if Iceland's most beautiful scenery. The hike was easy despite heavy rain and wind. However it was very difficult to get quality photos due to terrible weather. Nevertheless it's beauty feels like a perfect setting for a wedding photo shoot. Praying for one bride to shoot with me here one day :)

Walk through a scenic rocky path, past a small lake, see the scattered wreck of an old fishing boat on a beautiful black sand beach. There are trails on both ends of the beach for even more stunning views from above.

Beautiful black beach with amazing views. Very rough waters on the day I went. Be careful not to get to close to the waves. My tour guide told me the waves sneak up on you if your not paying attention. Loved that you can walk down to the beach and see it from above. Follow the trails they are well marked.

This is a very nice spot, and the detour is totally worth it. First you walk between some rock formations to get to the beach. You'll see some metal parts scattered all over the beach, because a trawler was wrecked there in 1948.

The beach itself is impressive, with the black sand and large rocks everywhere.

To the far right of the beach (when looking towards the ocean), there's a walking path up the rocks that will give you an amazing view.
