The simple fact of standing above 2 plates is what makes this place really cool. Its not visually spectacular though other than being amongst the dramatic Icelandic landscape

Awesome place, worth the distance! Nature around it is great, visited several months ago during first snow and was just in ave. It is in the middle of nothing so unless you like reeeealy long walks, get a car or someone with a car to get you there. If you get lucky while walking though, you may come across some drivers who offer you a lift too!

Not advertised nearly as well as the places on the golden circle for example but then this is free so no surprise there then. Really interesting visit where you can walk across and between the two cliff faces on eithe side of the crack which is opening up between the North American tectonic plate and the Eurasian plate. Deep sand dunes made from Black lava sand have filled in some of the crevice so it is possible to get down into the base of the crevice and get a close look at the rock for.ations on either side. Don't think there is anywhere else like it anywhere, but loved being able to see it close up. Great place. :-)

A really cool sight that we almost missed in Iceland! It wasn't crowded at all! Definitely worth the stop.

Mainly a visit to be able to say that you've stood on both tectonic plates and also in between them. This site is very well cared for, the path is well made and the bridge is very artistic in a minimalist way. The landscape around is picturesque as well as the location of the bridge lending itself to some great sights and shots.

Geographically speaking a pretty cool place to go and stand on the bridge and just look and think what forces of nature are at play. My son and i loved it.

It's free and easy to get to. There's not a lot to see really. It makes a nice stop off on a tour of the reykjanes peninsula.

The bridge is rather symbolic, and you can take pictures underneath it.
You can clearly see the wedge between the plates that runs through the whole Southern side of the island. And it's incredible. It's close to the airport so make sure you stop by.

Actually, the gap between the America plate and the Europe plate is located all over the Iceland, from north to south of the Iceland. But they built the bridge here and put the sign saying Bridge between America and Europe. I think this is a good place to take photo with the sign.
We revisited here again on January first 2018. It is allost the same as before. Note that there is no toilet facility here.

One side of the bridge i was in europe and the other side i was technically in america. Tectonic plate wise anyway. A novelty.

Kinda interesting if you're into geology, but there isn't much to see otherwise. Worth seeing if you're passing by, but don't bother taking the trek out here just to see it.

It's a fun stop on the way from the airport. I actually preferred it to splitting of the plates at ðingvellir because you can walk right down under the bridge.

A fun place to see the crack in Iceland. Could be marked a bit better, or something, but nice. As a destination it would be pointless, as a nice stretch-your-legs, it's great.

Interesting place to see the separation of 2 tectonic plates, you can walk across it or walk in between it. Other than that, nothing much. The place is well equipped with paved road, car park and broadwalk.

One of many places which Iceland Made "tourist-proof". Parking lot and good access. So it is nothing special anymore, but safe. Good for taking some funny pictures.

Here the fissure between the Euroasiatic plate and North American one comes up evident. Not much as a 'show', but here you can see and touch the very rocks that go a bit further from each other, actually slowly reaping Iceland apart for some centimeters every year. If you think about it, it's amazing!

This is where the European plate and North American plate meets above the water. It was generally quiet with only a few other groups when we went during the day. We went back after dark as well and found it to be an amazing place to watch the stars. Just make sure you wrap up warm!
