Stayed here one night on our way up to Lake Myvatn. The guesthouse is located about 10 mins south of the ring road, the paved road turns to gravel/dirt about halfway in and is a bit rough. I would describe the guesthouse as rustic, with a horse motif going on throughout. Leo, the guesthouse' dog, greeted us at the entrance and the owner was very pleasant and chatted with us when we arrived.
No key was given for our room, which we found a bit odd. We were told that because this was Iceland we don't need to worry about locking our doors. Problem is, I trust the Icelanders but not sure if I trust all travellers. We ended up taking our valuables with us when we left the room.
The room we stayed in had a private bathroom but lacked any counter space for our toiletries. The shower was particularly troublesome, we couldn't get it to stay at one temperature for more than 30 seconds at a time. There was also no bodywash or shampoo provided. The shower curtain let a lot of water onto the floor and there was no bath mat to wipe it up with. The fan also didn't work which caused the steam to fog up our rooms windows,
There was no TV in the room, but luckily we had a good showing of the Aurora by looking out our window. The floors were heated which made the room comfortable. The beds and linens were decent.
Wifi only works on the main floor, and with no TV in the room, you might get a bit bored if you plan to stay in your room in the evening.
Breakfast options were a bit sparse (no Skyr here) but they did give my wife some gluten free crackers for her allergy.
Overall I'm a bit torn on this place, I wanted to like it for its charm and pleasant owner but the problems we had with the bathroom and wifi make it tough to recommend unless you really love the farm house vibe.
Very friendly staff and owners. Extremely delicious islandic food. The rooms are a bit small. You really feel the fact, that you're on the landfar away from any towns or other distractions.
Cute guesthouse with small wooden rooms and very friendly stuff! The bathrooms are shared. We did a tour around iceland organized by the guesthouse and starting from there. The tour was amazing! Great tasting food and big portions!
A pleasant experience. breakfast choices could be a little better but the bedroom accommodation was okay. Nothing to write home about here but it served the purpose it needed to and wasn't too far off the beaten track. It does have WiFi but this is not accessible within the bedrooms due to range but is however available upstairs in the lounge area that they have available. This is a free service.
Rooms added onto main house feels a bit like school camp. Ply wood walls feels like it is not yet finished. No kettle in the room and the common room is quite a walk away around the outside of the house. Bathroom was clean. Despite the strange look of the lodging, it was quite comfortable.
Sympathiques petite ferme à chevaux tenue par une famille accueillante et sympathique.
