Nice color but surely not the most impressive. On the contrary, if you are arrived up to here, you definitely must visit Hverir solfatares, just 2 or 3 kilometres away, on the other side of the mountain.

Beautiful blue turquoise lake. The water is warmish when touching on the side. No swimming allowed for safety reasons (very hot streams apparently).
In one spot you have a large amount of turquoise water, a source of hot water gushing out of the ground and a small chimney spitting out steamed water.
Get ready for the sulfur smells.

Better seen from a high viewpoint just before reaching this. Coming from direction of krafla/hverir. The lake inside krafla viti crater is an even better (turquoise) blue. On a sunny day!

Beautiful steaming hot blue lake, just next to Hverir and on the right side of main road if you are driving towards Myvatn. Google maps location might name it as Namaskard (not sure if this is the official name). Worth to stop over to admire the clear blue lake.

Stumbled upon this lake while driving to Akuyreri. Whatever it is, it's cool! Never seen a blue lake before, so this was another never-before-seen before site. It is also near Myvatn, so there's quite a bit of volcanic formations in the area that are of interest and good to see. Probably best to check it out when all the snow has melted.

Auf dem Weg von Akureyri in den Osten Islands kommt auf der Ringstrasse 1 automatisch am Blue Lake vorbei. So schön und einladend der See auch aussieht, darin Baden solle man keinesfalls. Die Wassertemperatur liegt deutlich über 70 Grad Celsius.
