Great trip. Great boat and great close viewing of a humpback whale

As my husband's first whale watching trip, he was thrilled. We saw a few (maybe 4?) humpback whales for a short time. I've had better experience, which is in part due to luck, but there were some things that really bothered me about this trip. The other smaller boat by the same company was doing less whale watching than whale chasing. Whenever they saw a whale, they go full speed toward it, getting as close as they could and trying to follow it. I felt as though this other boat was not only scaring the whales away, it was disrespecting them. At the end of the trip, we stopped to fish for awhile. This was enjoyable, but I began to notice the oily sheen that our boat was leaving in the water, which upset me. Again, I felt like the wellbeing of the animals was being overlooked. I wish I would've done better research to pick a more responsible company.

Very nice tour with professional and symphatic guys. Not to many tourists and the fishing was great too! Saw humpback whales from a close distance! Also cheaper than others!

Such an awesome experience. The whales put on a great show for us. On the way back, we were given fishing polls and caught a number of fish very quickly. They filleted them right on the boat. They even gave out one as fresh shasimi while saving the rest for a BBQ when we got back. Very worth it!

Nice place to go whale watching, not as touristic as Husavik. Staff super friendly, very interesting tour. We followed one humpback whale for about an hour and then we went fishing. We then got to grill it and eat it, delicious! Must do.

Absolutely fabulous experience. We had whale watching trip with our kids. We saw whales, dolphins and puffins. As a bonus we got opportunity to catch fish and bbq - we had a big pollock. Definitely recommend.

Wonderful experience. Whales everywhere. No doubt, best company to book the trip. Unassailable treatment and attention to customers.

We ended up with a very small group (just four people total), and saw a pod of three humpbacks with a couple other individuals. On the way back we caught a lot of cod, our guide filleted them on the boat, then cooked them on the grill back on land. Very good service, a great value!

We joined the tour in mid May, it was a 9am tour. It was a gloomy day, light wind, but no rain. We were disappointed.
    1. When 12 of us from Dalvik office board to the boat, there was already about 20+ people on the boat. With total 30+ on a sailboat, this is not really a small group, especially during non peak season.
    2. The sea angling activity was one of the key reasons we have chosen the tour, but it was cancelled. The staff claimed it was cancelled due to rough sea which was not true. Reason being the boat was sailed deep inside the fjord, which the waves was not rocky at all, none of us feel any motion sickness at all even though we didn’t get to sit most part of the tour. Besides, the sea angling activity is done near the Hjalteyri harbour, which is about 22.6km north of Akureyri, 24.7km south of Dalvik (meaning near the end of Eyjafjörður fjord), the sea was pretty calm when we were there. This is a real disappointment as we felt cheated. The late pick up by the shuttle bus probably also not expecting the cancellation of sea angling activity.
    3. There is no way you get to see the whales up close, the minimum distance is at least 1.5km away. Mostly you will see the tail of the whales from far. Don’t be fooled by the photos.

That said, they entitle for 3 stars rating as we did sighted some whales. And, there was warm suits provided.

Despite a the rocky start where our boat engine died and we had to be towed back into the harbour, our group had a great time watching whales for over 2 hours in the fjord. The staff were informative and professional. The provided warm suits for everyone to wear out on the water were greatly appreciated.

Great experience with our tour here. Out on the water for two plus hours and saw humpback whales. On the way back they let us fish, and then cleaned the fish and barbecued them for us as soon as we got back to the beach. Be warned you may get seasick out on the water!

Went on the 9 am tour in October and had a terrific time. The staff was super competent and taught us a lot about whales and fish common in the area. We saw about 11 humpback whales repeatedly that kept reappearing next to the boat. The staff knows how to spot them from afar! On the way back we got to catch fish which was cut on the spot (another educational throw in by the staff here!) And grilled for us back on land. Super super friendly and highly recommended!! They don't go out in bad weather because they know what they're doing (unlike other whale watching companies)

Went whale watching and fishing. Staff was well informed and cooked the freshly caught fish afterwards on land. Very fresh and delicious.

Took the 11am tour august 9th. We had to have seen at least 30 humpback whales and tons of dolphins. The tour guides are amazing and you can tell they truly love their jobs. The tour concludes with 15 mins of fishing and almost everyone caught a fish most not even biting the hook they just happens to swim by and get caught. The fish was delicious when grilled.

Very friendly and helpful staff, provided equipment is perfect for Icelandic weather conditions (keeps dry and warm), nice boats, great service, impressive tour. Very recommendable also with children (3 years and older). "Less crowded, better service" is really true.
