Stopped for coffee in the restaurant to avoid some rain as we were driving the ring road. Nice atmosphere and cozy seating in the restaurant. Didn't stay at the hostel but the coffee and service were both quite nice.

Nice hostel with clean rooms. There is a bar/restaurant on the ground floor which is great for hanging out and a sauna in the basement. The duvet wasn't included in our reservation, I don't know if that is a standard policy but on the other hand, I can say that you don't really need it since the hostel is warm enough. When you check in they give you a free beer and this is cool. The only downside I can find are the showers too far from the rooms. The kitchen is nice and big.

Really enjoyed our stay here. Staff was friendly, rooms were clean and facilities were of high quality. Hostel done correctly. The bar downstairs is a nice plus that serves an okay breakfast. Location is also super.

There might be some noice from the streets during weekends.

Great place to stay friendly service. The restaurant is really good. At 2 o'clock in the morning on a weekend there's a lot of noise from the street but the rooms are clean period the kitchen is a little small but still manageable. One huge plus is the sauna. They also give you a free beer coffee or tea. I would stay here again. Great location centrally located all the Hopping places are near by

I went there just for lunch but I highly recommend this place. They have cushy seats and nice staff. You even could play some boardsgames. Good to have a meal or drink beers and having a good time! Lastly, the burgers are delicious!

My boyfriend and I went here for dinner twice. I had the vegan burgers which were both pretty good. They also have a selection of beers and a limited bar. The atmosphere is cozy and casual. We enjoyed our visits here.

Great and affordable! We got a private room for just me and my husband! The bar was a little loud at night-especially considering quiet hours.

Great value and nice, clean rooms. The bar/restaurant is great for hanging out. The only downside is hostel guests cannot have their own food and/or drinks in the restaurant area. Instead you have to be confined to a small table in the guest kitchen (even if you order food from the restaurant but have your own beverages).

We loved our stay at Akureyri Backpackers. It seemed to be the busiest place in town while we were there. Live music on Thursday and Friday night, a lively bar filled with locals and travels with a nice selection of local beers. Will definitely be back!

I was traveling alone and I enjoyed my stay a lot. The staff is friendly and helpful and everything is clean! The kitchen is fully stocked and you can find everything you need there for cooking. When I need an accommodation in Akureyri again I would stay there a second time!

We had an enjoyable stay at Akureyri Backpackers. The location was nice and central, and the cafe which is in the same building was lovely if you wanted to grab a beer or a bite to eat. Having a sauna was a lovely addition!

A bit rustic, but quite decent food. We shared a very good burger (Bistro) with potatoes and it was enough for the two of us for $17 US. Will definitely eat here again.

Such a cozy place with loads of people. Still, there was no line for the showers. The very spacious and beautiful privates are on the top floor which requires a little hike to the showers in the basement.

Really nice hostel with a restaurant/bar and cafe in the lobby area. Great place to meet new people and the hostel is clean. You can also get a bunch of deals on tours and excursions from there because it's the best known hostel in Akureyri.

+ Clean rooms and bathrooms. Very helpful and kind staff. Kitchen well equipped.
    - Breakfast too expensive for what they have to offer. And you're allowed only one piece of bread per person. Small guest kitchen.

I had a lovely 2-night stay in a couple room with a beautiful view of the fjord. The kitchen was quite clean and there were sufficient amenities provided. The hostel ground floor had a restaurant with really yummy and reasonably priced food. Also, the hostel lounge had board games that were free to just play if say you got bored since all the stores closed at European timings!

First of all the people who work here are so lovely and helpful! 💚 The Hostel by itself is really clean and everything works and is in a good condition. Food from the kitchen is payable and delicious! They serve also breakfast from 7:30-10:00
The five stars are well earned after five days in this beautiful Hostel!

Friendly staff and a cozy vibe. I made a mistake with my reservation and they fixed it for me without charging me. Great location in the middle of the town. Equipped with a good sized kitchen and a SAUNA! Plus they give you a free drink when you arrive. The beds were standard bunks, 6 to a room. They also have a 500kr happy hour. The showers were hot and high pressure. I hope to come back one day!

Friendly staff, clean, cozy and tidy common areas and nice bar! They even give you a complementary drink (beer, tea or coffee) when you get there. Like this cozy little hostel a lot. The only downfalls are that the showers are only on the ground floor, there are no lifts so if you have a large suitcase, you'd have to lug it up the stairs, beds are a bit squeaky (my bed rail was actually a bit broken but others were not) and the sound proofing like all hostels are not that great. We had a gig playing in the bar last night and we stayed on the 3rd floor, with our doors closed you could still hear the music a bit. Not a big problem but if you're someone who wants super quiet spaces with zero noise you should probably consider elsewhere. Though they don't have gigs every night and when they do they are of high quality. So you win some and you loose some. Oh also for those who love sauna, there is a small one situated in the shared bathroom.

Very helpful and friendly staff. We did our laundry for 900 kr for each washer and dryer. We had a few beers and hung out for a couple hours while our clothes washed. By far the cheapest beers in the area.

Wonderful staff. So nice. Beds were very comfortable. Lock boxes were a bit small, but still nice. Showers were my least favorite part, I felt a little unsafe in such a public space. Bar is wonderful, the people and energy is very positive. The rooms are clean. You also have to buy the linen, which I understand but it just kind of bummed me out. But overall, really wonderful stay and would stay agin!

Stayed 2 nights on our tour of Iceland. Very clean rooms. Adequate shared bathroom facilities. Large, separate shower facilities in the basement that also features sauna. Note, the hot water is sulfur water so it takes a little time to get used to. The main floor is a restaurant/bar. There is a kitchen area available for guests to use.
We stayed on the third floor and access is only available by stairs. There is no elevator. Parking is available nearby but be sure to note when it is pay parking and when it becomes free overnight parking.
I would definitely stay here again.
