  ميناء خور الزبير تأسس في عام 1974 م في [منطقة الزبير]، [محافظة البصرة]، على خور الزبير التي تبعد عن مدينة [البصرة] مسافة 80 كم.
  
  ويتكون الميناء من أربعة أقسام رئيسية هي الأقسام الفنية، أقسام الشحن، أقسام التفريغ، وكذلك الأقسام الادارية.
  
  ذكر أن ميناء (خور الزبير) يستقبل البواخر التي تحمل موادا تجارية للتجار العراقيين وموادا تستوردها الحكومة العراقية ، إذ يحتوي الميناء الذي يقع على مسافة (40كم) جنوب شرقي البصرة على تسعة أرصفة ، ثلاثة منها جرى تخصيصها لتحميل النفط والأخريات لشحن وتفريغ كافة أنواع البضائع والسلع ، لا سيما مفردات البطاقة التموينية والمواد التجارية الأخرى.

  Shame what happened to our sea ports after decades of wars and conflicts!
  I hope this port will rise again to fulill its strategic role for the 34 million people in Iraq.
