This hidden gem was amazing!!! The gnocchi were like pillows, the calamari was heaven. Great service and great food!

We found this great restaurant by chance while looking around Jerusalem.
Already when we entered, the waiter warmly greeted us and let us choose a place in this cozy and stylish restaurant. Next to a small but great selected menu, the waiter recommended us some daily dishes. All dishes sounded so great, it was hard to choose, but the waiter helped us in our decision. The food, mainly fish and sea food dishes and some Italian style dishes, was great prepared and very delicious.
Our evening in this comfy restaurant was just great and the food most delicious.

Great food! I'd recommend reserving a table - they managed to squeeze me and a friend in despite how busy they were, which was great for us. My friend and I shared the eggplant starter, and it was nicely done, topped with diced tomatoes and hummus. The bread that came with it was warm and light as well. I ordered the seafood gnocchi, and am pleased to report that it was mostly seafood and just enough of the gnocchi. The sauce that came with it was creamy and very slightly spicy - so amazing, basically. The service was extremely friendly. They even asked about dietary restrictions and made sure not to include such ingredients in the meal. Would definitely recommend a visit here!!

We spent 8 days in Israel and had our best meal at Shanty. The atmosphere was like going to a good friend's home for dinner. The staff make you feel comfortable and special. The food? Superb!
We had: spicy chicken wings, ceviche, grilled shrimp on a bed of rice, and, for dessert two pears in a wine sauce. My wife and I will dream about this food when we sleep tonight.

This was the best meal we had during our recent week in Jerusalem. It is located just off Jaffa Street, a two-minute walk from our hotel (Harmony) and a five-minute walk from the Jaffa Gate. The street is hard to find, so get directions or use Google Maps. The waiter was very friendly and attentive and spoke excellent English. He suggested that the appetizer, cauliflower surprise, was enough for two of us, and he was right. Our version (and apparently there are many, hence the "surprise") consisted of a huge cauliflower topped with a mixture of spices and then baked. For our entrees, we had steak and fish (barramundi) that were perfectly prepared. Later, the chef came to our table and told us some of his "secrets." The overall experience could not have been better.

Shanty is one of our favorites. it has been there from our beginning and lasted throughout our lives. It has updated itself, but kept the main dishes there. it is a big place with the feeling of a small cozy family home.
