Nice restaurant. Pork tasty. VERY overpriced. Wouldn't go again as Dublin has such a great choice of restaurants using quality food at much lower prices.

Come here for the tastes rather than your stomach. There are some amazing dishes and wines to be found here, and the prices reflect that. So it's well worth it if you want to have a special moment with food - but not if you're starving.

Very nice setting, open, airy and comfortable not at all stuffy but it will leave you completely stuffed. The food is absolutely amazing nothing else to say. This is a "must stop here" for any Dublin visit.

Very good food in a very cool setting. The food was delicious, the atmosphere was great and the service was both fast and friendly. I was there when they were serving their brunch menu, found some different items that were delicious. I feel they use high quality ingredients to cook with. Would definitely go back.

This restaurant is SO good, I feel the need to leave the best review while my husband is finishing off his steak. The service is immaculate and friendly, the wine excellent, the food is simply delicious. I am out of superlatives. Ordering dessert now.

The Winding Stair does a really good contemporary Christmas lunch. They have a good selection of beers and wines too. It is a relaxed place, full of conversations. If you're looking for a quiet spot, then this is probably not the restaurant for you.

What a bad service. We enter the place, first time we go there. The waitress asks if we come for brunch and we clearly say "Just sweet treats and coffee", after which we get a table.
After 10 minutes they ask us what we want to order and when we order the deserts and coffee they suddenly say we each have to order a main dish as well "because it's brunch" - as if there was a law that forbids sweet brunch. Questionable why they don't say that at the beginning and offer us a table still.
The way they talked to us also was highly snobbish and arrogant. I would have understood if we would have asked only for drinks, but I have been to many restaurants and was never denied eating just a desert and having drinks. What you like to eat is not the business of the restaurant at all. The worst service ever in my opinion and I will not enter this place anymore.

I've eaten here 5 times in the last 2 years, and it is one you will keep going back to.

Atmosphere -- great rustic literary theme with views of the River Liffey. Above a bookstore.

Food -- pre theatre dinner is a great deal. Sometimes the chicken can be dry, but other times perfectly cooked. The fish is usually always good. The chicken liver is also nice. Desserts are fine!

Service -- exceptional. Staff really know their beers and wines. Also someone I was with didn't like his main dish (was being adventurous), and the waitress noticed and decided not to charge him for it.

The Winding Stair is one of those places that made me feel a little uneasy the first time I visited - well, before I visited I mean. It's not a large venue, and I have a hard time with background noise, crowds, and general chaos. Luckily, it was nothing like that. There are a lot of people in the space, but it is well thought out for flow of people, and the noise level is dampened by corners and partitions. The decor is tasteful and attractive - overall, it's just a nice place to be.

It's possibly best for group dining, like with a work crowd or a family gathering - I was there for the former, and did not see too many nooks or two-seater tables (could be that I missed them) .

I would describe the food as hearty - and the portions equally so, you will not go hungry. The quality of the food is, fortunately, absolutely top notch. Some places compensate for bad food with larger portions, not so here.
