A small placelimited menu. Expensive. Staff not interested in customers. We felt like we were invading their space.

Scraping three stars (a very thin/dim three that knows it's closer to 2.5 at heart). I really wish this place was better and could justify the prices. It's a local spot but each time I've gone over the years, either for coffee or something more substantial, I come away feeling unsatisfied on a number of levels - from the quality of meal to the quality of service (though this can be quite pleasant at times). Maybe they need some competition to up their game or perhaps they are happy to keep going as they are whatever the circumstances (the latter I fear despite the pretensions to being something they are not in evidence across the menu).

I was told that they are closed at 4:15pm (when the posted hours are actually 4:30).

Then the lady at the counter proceeded to take order from a couple in front of me. Another couple walked in behind me and went and sat at the tables. They were not stopped (or told that the shop is closed).

Followup: 8/8/17: They actually read the review and responded! I am revising my previous rating from 1 to 4*. I did order a latte and a couple of pastries (carryout) that were very top notch. While I was slightly distracted, I do remember other people walking in and sitting down. I remember being told that the cafe was closed (definitely no food), but I could get a latte *to carryout.*

Fantastically fresh food from an incredibly diverse menu just off what must be the best beach in Co. Clare. Warm, Welcoming staff. What a gem!

A wonderful diamond in the rough (or what feels like the middle of nowhere). The burren lamb in tomato and ginger sauce is very much a surprise as it was lightly spiced. The States would have just poured on the spices. What a delight it was.

It is also incredibly convenient when staying at the B&B across the way.

We enjoyed two excellent meals during a short stay in Fanore in September, 2014. The fish chowder (tomato based I recall) was perhaps the best I've ever had! The owner/server was a bit stretched to be all things to all customers. But, the food was well worth the modest price.
