Beautiful building. Sadly u can go inside it and the gardens are not much. Food was off.

This a such an amazing and beautiful place to visit and spend an hour or a day. You can feed the ducks on the pond (byo-bread) there are lots of walks of different lengths with plenty of seating along the way to admire the many scenic panoramas.

Lovely gardens, with nice surprises along the walk, like carved faces on trees, small wodden houses and bridges, mysterious spots and romantic frames. After visiting the garden we took as well a guided tour in some rooms of the castle, like the butler's room and the kitchen. The guide told us many nice stories about living in the Victorian era. We also had coffee and cake in the Tearoom which is build in the old stables, very beautiful designed! The visit was worth it!

Love this place, two great gardens separated by a track that cattle often traverse, You can watch them moving by waiting for your chance to run across to the next garden, but it's fun and the children love to watch them slowly making their way by. There's different parts with different influences, eastern, western, amazing trees, nice tea room and a trail for children to follow and find. Watch out for mini statues and tree carvings.

These gardens are a fabulous way to while away a few hours. Beautifully kept gardens with lovely floral borders; great woodland area - look out for the carvings 😊 Don't miss the llamas they're quite aloof but still cute 😄.
Once you have finished have a coffee and something to eat in the cafe.
** There is a car park by the castle so don't make the mistake we did, leaving your car at the end of the drive or you'll have a mile walk to get there **response / report this review -

Visited with my family and some friends. We toured the grounds and didn't do the castle interior tour but the gardens and surrounding walks are absolutely gorgeous. The gardens have something different and unusual at every turn with gnomes and nymphs popping up at unexpected times in the foliage (not real ones of course!).
The gardens are unique in that they must receive a lot of attention but manage to have a relaxed feel. They are formal but with a lovely casualness which is comfortable. There are lots of benches dotted around, sometimes in covered wooden gazebos, sometimes in a high spot overlooking a particularly beautiful part of the grounds.
There is a high 'mound' at some distance from the house which you can climb (a convenient path has been corkscrewed around it for walking), climbing to the top of which you are rewarded withe a stunning view back to the castle.
I would recommend this to any family who wants to spend half a day getting some exercise and fresh air while walking in some of the lovliest grounds I have visited. There is a tea room to visit which looks lovely although we were too late to partake after our walk and it had closed. The castle itself is magnificent and next time we visit we'll take in an organised tour.
