My wife and myself dined here and would highly recomend it. The authentic Italian food was simply fantastic. Fresh ingredients cooked to perfection. The ambience is relaxing and cosy, ensured by lovely, well trained staff, who made our experience really enjoyable. If you are in donegal town and like your food then this place is a must .
Food is very good but atmosphere is lacking. Doesnt feel Italian. Music awful. Waiter moody. Needs a good front of house person. I know this is a commonly felt view as I am a regular visitor but not so keen any more due to overall feel of the place.
I've eaten a lot of Italian. This place was okay clean premises, great pizza (but mediocre pasta), excellent wine, friendly service. However, the price (97 euro for 2 people ordering 3 courses and drinking half a litre of wine, 500ml still water, one coffee) was shocking for Donegal Town. I've paid less in Dublin City Centre for better and more authentic Italian. My advice is to go before 7pm and STICK to the early bird menu (avoid the "specials" on the board and ordering anything "on the side" - we had chips that cost 4.50) and you will get exactly what you pay for and come out happy. In retrospect this is what we should have done. To summarise nice little place, just be careful as the prices can soar into Celtic Tiger territory surprisingly fast. This was the single most expensive hour I spent while in Donegal for a week, so felt I needed to review it while fresh in my mind. The big bill just took the whole good out of the evening. That's as fair a review as I can leave.
Had a lovely meal here when home last Christmas. Yum!
Had a wonderful meal last night in this lovely restaurant. The atmosphere is welcoming and friendly, the food is gorgeous and the staff are efficient and knowledgeable. I will definitely be recommending and re-visiting here again in the near future!!
Fab dining experience in Donegal Town. Gorgeous pizzas and pastas, authentic Italian family run restaurant with great friendly service
Trattoria toscana is a 'Must Stop' dining destination for dinner when in Donegal. The atmosphere is pure hospitality. Homey, romantic, and charming begin to describe our dinner experience. We felt like we were among friends. Try the chicken parmagiana for something different than what most Americans are used to in the states; you won't be disappointed.
Amazing pasta and delicious pizza! Some of the best fresh pasta I've ever eaten. Stuffed with crab meat and in an unbelievable creamy tomato sauce.
