Busy and small cafe upstairs in the farmers market, good for a quick bite/coffee. Great staff
What a treat! friendly humorous staff and very fresh and nice food made with love!
A great gem in the rafters above the market order at the counter as you arrive and wait to be seated. Simple menu using ingredients straight from the market. Not always the faster service to get your food but well worth the wait and does give you time to take surrounding.
A wonderful place for a coffee and sandwich. Staff found us a seat quickly and were very polite and efficient. The spiced beef was excellent.
The farmgate is always packed to the rafters(almost literally, given it's upstairs location with visible rafters on show), and I find it hard to understand why on my twice/three times yearly visits there. Staff try hard to accommodate everybody waiting as quickly as possible and service is surprisingly quick and very pleasant, providing in-house bread immediately after being seated; but the menu is overpriced and uninteresting, with no-nonsense dishes served up without much augmentation for 15-19 euro at lunch. That is supposed to be justified by the fact that everything comes from the market but the fact is you get just as good for cheaper elsewhere. Having said that, there's nothing wrong with the food on the whole but for the odd bland side-dish and the location is great with a good view of market shoppers and nice rustic decor befitting of the historic building it's housed in.
Unique place with a good food
Beautiful breakfast in a unique location. Would recommend to anyone visiting Cork
Great atmosphere - excellent food - picturesque location.Value for money
An atmospheric cafe inside the English Market. It specialises in high quality local produce. Avoid between 1 o'clock to 2 o'clock when locals come for their lunch break and ques are long.
The setting is nice, but the Irish breakfast food quality and service was very poor.
