Great location. Personal bathroom which is great. Doors are locked for a very long time which may cause a little frustration when you arrive. Met a lot of nice people in the public area. Would recommend.

I had a horrible experience.

I checked in for three nights, first in Room 3, next two in room 1, to recover from a Hiking knee injury, only to find on the morning of the first day that I had been moved, due to a Paddywaggon Tour. No problem, except the staff member wanted me to pay More for the new room! I stayed to argue, only to realize that not only was I expected to pay More for the second night, my third night stay had been whited out from the register. I asked if this was normal, that people would be moved without their permission, and the surly staff member said he "no longer wanted to continue this conversation". I stayed to argue, until he eventually gave me 20€ and told me to leave.

I headed out on the street with my knee injury. I came back the next day to inquire about a missing headtorch, only to find that my name had been entirely whited out of the register for the 20th, 21st, and 22nd of May 2017, and was informed I would not be allowed in, considering that my name was not on the register. The staff member on the desk asked the one I had had the confrontation with if he knew me, to which he replied "no".

I had been having an excellent time at this hostel; the other staff were friendly and approachable, and the shower facilities in room 3 were excellent. That being said however, I would not recommend staying here, at all.

Go somewhere with trustworthy staff!

The hostal was good, you get what you pay for, the rooms are clean. The only bad thing is that there is only one shower for 8 people, but it is clean, the breakfast is just the basic, the kitchen closes at 10. The location is great and close to the cathedral. The staff was really good, they helped us making a call even when we didnt ask for their help.

I took a very late bus into Killarney and arrived at 12am to Paddy's. I thought I had made a reservation for two nights, but unbeknownst to me the reservation had not gone through (I realized this the next day after checking my bank statement). I also did not know that the check-in desk closed at 8pm The security guard working that night was very nice and sympathetic even though he had no way of helping me check in or even find me a bed (they were full up). He directed me to another hostel, but they were also closed. When I came back he told me that he could put me up in an extra bed in what was supposed to be a private room. When I woke up the next day and checked my reservation, I realized it had not gone through and I was 100% in the wrong. I was so embarrassed and was freaking out about what I was going to say when I went to talk to reception. The woman working at the desk was so sweet and understanding and told me it was fine. I paid for my night there and she was super friendly about it. All I can say is thank you so much to the security guard and the woman working at reception - you guys went out of your way to be nice, friendly, and accommodating despite my stupidity. I really hope my dumb mistake did not get you into any trouble.

my friends from australia worked here i think they did stuff like mop up and pour beer into glasses like a job a first grader could have. the bar area looks funny with the color scheme and the narrowness of the bar doesnt look like your typical irish pub. i also had some fun observing someone who was mortified or really emotionally distressed and feasibly very angry and had a funny way of expressing those feelings over a horrible date that went terribly wrong. i so want to know more about what happened. i know about that happening to others yet i have not known the entirety of what happened at the end of that story so i have to find that out. people need to do that to let out their feelings more often and express that feeling toward that other person more who made feel incredible groddy to the max. i recommend seeing the stream that leads to the countryside instead of just staying in town because we want to get our three square meals a day and we might have to squeeze something out

So, I guess I can't really complain because this was only 8 euros a night. We bumped up to 15 to stay in a nicer room at the end of the stay, and it's so much nicer. The couple euros extra is more than worth it. The breakfast was okay at best, and the place was freezing. They kept turning off the heat even though it was March and 6 out. The owners/workers were a very disgruntled couple that seemed extremely annoyed that they were running a hostel. Just not a very good environment and weird closing times/harsh rules. I recommend if you're looking here, pay the extra euros to go to the Neptune down the road.
