Ron et Al really know their stuff and will give you the tour to rival all tours. Great for the historically minded and also for those willing to learn. If not, they're happy to let you wander and explore for yourself. Lovely.

My wife and I had a wonderful visit to Millmount during our trip to Ireland from our home in Australia. This is a place of special significance to my wife whose English great grandfather was stationed here in the 1870s when it was a British Army barracks and when he met the local girl who became his wife. The museum itself was so much more than we expected, it was wonderful also to go up to the Martello tower and see the views over Drogheda. A great big thank you to our guide Julian for such a very enjoyable experience!

Amazing place to visit. The site of the original motte and bailey castle constructed in the late 12th century. Most of the medieval fabric of the Millmount is gone, apart from a section of the town wall, but you still get a real sense of what it must have been like. Really pretty museum (with an old telephone box out front). And (naturally for Ireland) a pub nearby. Also, stunning views of Drogheda and its environs.
