We had a one-night family stay here; it's an excellent, modern, clean and tidy hotel. They also have rooms that are able to cater for 2 adults and 3 kids, which is a rarity, these days.
The breakfast was one of the best we've ever had at a hotel; however the coffee machine needs to be cleaned; the taste of the coffee is quite bad.
Also, the cost of most games in the 'games room' is a bit pricey; €2. Perhaps you could reduce this to €1?

Have stayed here a few times now as it's very central when travelling all over the country for work. The rooms (and bed) are very comfortable. Even though rooms face the motor way, they are quiet. Nice bar and restaurant and a good gym and pool. I use this hotel regularly and recommend it to business travellers.

Very accessible location, brilliant friendly staff that will go out of their way to help you and provide a prompt service. Rooms are clean, modern and always turned down well. Also special requests such as a technical request for a laptop were met with speed. Gym is modern and well equipped and the menu in the bar and grill is tastefully put together. Highly recommended.

great food lovely and clean and the best part was the friendly staff. Only difficulty was a double bed in the wheelchair accessible room. I think that it is important to have the option of two single beds. Also door in room 15 is too hard to open for wheelchair users or individuals with mobility difficulties. This needs to be changed urgently as it could cause distress to some people. Also seat in the shower needs to be replaced as it is not any use to anyone who has to transfer from a chair unaided.

Was delighted to win a competition on Facebook with a voucher for B&B for 2 which I used. Was made very welcome by receptionist and we were happy with our room which was clean and comfortable. We had a nice dinner which was served by a really pleasant young girl. We were too tired to avail of the pool and facilities there. The only downside was trying to find the hotel. The entrance sign wasn't visible on the approach and I ended up on the motorway and had to drive around twice, but that could easily be fixed.

This Hotel is well located and easy to find off the M7 with ample parking and attached to a food hall/Swimming pool etc. During my weeks stay at the Maldron hotel I found all the staff I came into contact with to be both friendly and helpful .However, there are two points the hotel management may want to give their attention to:-
a. Room safes, they should be physically bolted to their location.At the time of my stay mine wasn't and could be easily carried away under my arm.
b.Restaurant and food hall closing at 9pm in the evening. Should stay open to at least 10pm allowing guests time to return from their daytime activities, before having an evening meal. 9pm far too early!
To conclude, I arrived at the hotel early after a night ferry crossing before my booked room was prepared.When i explained I needed to make the most of my first day they prioritised my room cleaning. They didn't have to do that and I was grateful for their understanding. I checked out on a Sunday morning around 7am but found that breakfast wasn't until 8am. I explained I needed to be at my destination by 0830am so the receptionist arranged with the restaurant for me to have a continental breakfast instead. Again they didn't have to do that for me.
Would I stay at this hotel again? Absolutely!response / report this review -

I took my children here for my daughter's sweet 16, and the last get away for our summer. We really enjoyed it, and it was a special treat for me that the hotel put on a "Kid's Club" movie my two youngest were able to attend, so my oldest daughter and it had a bit of time to ourselves for a late supper. She really enjoyed the Spa treatment the next morning as well, while I spent time at the pool with the younger children. Breakfast was lovely too. The room was spacious and comfortable. Thank you!

Ideally located just off the motorway.
The staff are very helpful and friendly. A warm welcome we received on arrival.
The rooms are comfortable and well maintained. The shower over the bath is hot and powerful.
The food was good and a great variety.

Location is perfect, ideal base for what we had planned to do in the surrounding area during our stay. The family room we had was very well presented, room was very clean and ample size for my family. Food in the Bar/Restaurant which is adjacent was reasonably priced and good quality. The hotel staff we met were extremely helpful and friendly. If I was to single out a negative and as a by the way comment the carpet in the corridors could do with a shampoo clean. Overall we had a pleasurable stay and would stay in this hotel again while also recommending it to family and friends.

We availed of the spa package which was excellent value for money! Great food & drinks served by fun & friendly staff. The spa treatments were definitely the highlight of our stay! Only 1 hour drive from our home, we will definitely visit your hotel again and would highly recommend it to friends.

Good basic hotel. By its nature/location it does have a motel feel.

Probably the worst hotel I have stayed in.
For a 4 star hotel the room was very basic and shabby. There were stains on the carpet and walls. The sheets didn't fit the bed, the beds were so uncomfortable as was the room being uncomfortably warm with no way to reduce the temperature. We had the worst nights sleep. We opted for the 'Valentines Day package', we had to ask reception about things that were part of our package and they seemed less interested in helping. It's like anything asked was a huge effort. I understand working in hospitality can be stressful, but the hotel was by no means busy. So disappointed with our visit. We couldn't wait to leave. We definitely won't be returning or recommending to friends.response / report this review -

I stayed at the Maldron Hotel as a family night away. We had two rooms booked each at 84 euro, so I was not expecting luxury. The hotel did not disappoint. The rooms were a great size and very spacious. The beds were so so comfy. I felt I could have done with an extra pillow instead of just the one that is given. I felt the bathrooms could have done with some proper soap, shampoo, conditioner and body wash. I got a treatment done in the Spa and it was amazing. My beauty therapist's name was Lesley and she did everything perfect and was so friendly and professional. My mam and my sister also got a treatment done and they really enjoyed there's too. The pool facilities are brilliant. The breakfast was absolutely gorgeous with loads to choose from. Overall I really enjoyed my stay at the Maldron. A little bit more attention to detail would be great throughout the hotel. I would definetely stay here again.

I booked into the Maldron Portlaoise, with my sister as we live busy lives in busy houses and we needed some peace and quiet to get some work done (work and study) and to have some rest and relaxation. I booked in at 3pm and had a few hours to myself before my sister arrived. Overall a very enjoyable experience. The room was so clean and there was absolutely no noise which was great, we did not use the gym but we will definitely use it again when we stay in the New Year. My only fault was the lack of plug sockets but this really is a minor issue. I am a very cold person and I rang reception for another duvet, which was brought to me immediately. Lovely night, looking forward to the next!
