A fascinating, peaceful place of immense archaeological and historical significance. This is the site of a C5th monastic settlement, one of the largest in Ireland. It was a great centre of piety and learning. Some of the stones from the original buildings have been incorporated into the boundary wall of the graveyard. Close to the entrance there is caged boulder, with a recess that closely resembles a human footprint. Tradition says it is that of St Patrick, but take a look and judge for yourself.
