I had a great experience. the trails is very peaceful and beautiful. The parking space is the best one to start the climb and it’s free. However you need to be somewhat in shape for the trail. I believe The round trip take about 6 hours and involve steep climbing so be prepared.

Great place to start your climb up Carrauntoohil. Reasonably sized car park but can fill up easily enough so if you are going to climb the reek set out early and get that parking space.

Carrauntoohil is an excellent hike, worth the day it will take in your trip to Kerry to see and experience. It's definitely a hike for people who are in shape. You won't make it to the peak if you're not someone who could go out for a jog right now. Try and aim for some good weather for the hike, but it's going to change a dozen times over the day. And plan for at least 6 hours on a moderate pace, with gorgeous views and great opportunities for enjoying the beautiful peaks of Ireland. Parking at this lot is probably the best option for the hike, but the drive out is through country, so make sure you know where you're going.

An access point into the Hag's Glen for walkers. Parking only, no facilities.
