We stayed here on a trip after getting married, staying in many castles around Ireland. The rooms definitely were not their strongest feature, but you can’t argue with the location. They were having a prom-type function while we were there, and had many beautiful venues to support big functions.
The lobby and lounge area, the first areas you experience when you check in, were fine. Clean, sparkling, and inviting. The second we stepped through the doors to the elevators we we're assaulted by an odor somewhat like bad curry. Our room didn't smell bad at first.there was just a hint of something not right in the air. When we showered the heat and steam amplified the smell of body odor and pond scum. I'm not sure if there is an underlying mold or mildew issue but it smelled rotten. We spent as little time in our room as possible. We were thrilled to check into our next hotel to shower and finally feel clean again. We were at the Dunboyne for two nights, so for two days we felt dirty and like we smelled bad.
I was part of a tour group. Upon entering I was impressed with the size of the entrance but disappointed with the decor. It did not read castle-like for me. We had a basement room, scratched furniture, tight for space with no room for luggage. It was clean, comfortable bed, good bathroom. No view.
Food was good but had a very long wait to be served for dinner.
I expected "an experience" in this hotel. Much preferred the quaint, well decorated, friendly hotels throughout Ireland that I so enjoyed during my trip.
A bit of a downer.
Located in a very beautiful area.
Very large rooms. The bath is huge.
Bed is very comfort. Food is not great, but good enough.
Service is excellent.
There is a spa in the hotel, but I didn't try it.
Great Wifi.
A very nice hotel and spa. Our room was well appointed and had a balcony. The bathroom was spacious and has a separate bathtub and shower. There was a coffee/tea maker, small table with chairs, and a safe in the room. Breakfast was included with our stay and was wonderful.
The staff was friendly and eager to please. They always asked if there was anything we needed and provided local points of interest and directions.
The hotel is conveniently located with driving access to the countryside as well as Dublin Bus stops and a commuter rail station in town (within a couple of miles). We purchased a Leap Visitors Pass wich provided us unlimited transportation into and around Dublin on commuter train, bus and their light rail service. Making this the perfect place to stay without having to drive and try to park in Dublin itself.
If you are planning a trip to Ireland, I highly recommended you stay here. For the atmosphere, friendly staff and conveniences there is no better place.
Was there for a weekend break. Food was just okay. Spa was lovely. Pool is small but nice. Good sized rooms. Staff very friendly.
Great food/service for a wedding reception. Staff were very accommodating and attentive and made dealing with a toddler easier.
Nice enough, but lacks the amenities you'd expect for an upscale hotel. No concierge service and no valet parking. Also, it doesn't really look or feel like a castle. And the doors have no stoppers on them, so all you hear all day is doors slamming shut.
Have to give this place 5 star.
A hotel built around a country house but called a castle. The beautiful lobby to the enormous bed rooms, great food wry efficient staff and so much parking.
You will have a good time staying in this place
Unforgettable experience from start to finish, each member of staff acts as if they can't do enough for you. The food was excellent, and cocktails tasty. Well done to the place.
Great location to stay a little out of Dublin and close to a smaller townDunboyne. Room was modern and breakfast was tasty.
My Mam went and got treated she went to the spa and only got her nails done and got the whole package and told to wait to get the rest done and she waited for an half an hour then she went to the till and they told her they didn't book her in also treated her terribly DONT GO
Great hotel in a beautiful setting. Really nice rooms, very clean and helpful staff. Food was nice too and very quick service.
Wonderful large room after having spent a week staying in quaint bed and breakfast establishments. Service was excellent and staff very friendly. Very nice breakfast buffet. We would recommend.
