highly recommend Crescent Dental. Recently attended with my 2 boys aged 7 & 5 years. Staff were very professional, caring & understanding and made the boys feel at ease.

I had my 1st wisdom tooth (top right) removed while on a holiday 2 weeks prior to visiting Crescent Dental. The procedure back then went super smooth – 2mins for tooth removal, 3 mins for sutures and I was out of the dentist office in 20min tops. The socket healed without any complications in 2 weeks. No antibiotic required.
I went to Crescent Dental to remove the 2nd wisdom tooth (top left) and here is where things went downhill quick
Now for my experience with Crescent Dental (CD).
Let me start with good things:
- Superb communication by phone and email/Facebook etc. Managing staff is very responsive and professional.
- Great aftercare. CD employees call and make sure you are ok at a later date. If there are any complications they insist on a free follow-up visit.
Now for the bad things:
- Removal of the wisdom tooth took a lot of time (seemed like forever to me) ~15-20mins. The dentist had to stop 3 times and approach pulling the tooth over and over again. I was told the tooth was stubborn.
- Even though the extraction was anything but easy/routine I was told there is no need for sutures, only a dressing and antibiotic.
- Next two days after the extraction were a torture! I got a dry socket, most likely from the fact that the extraction was tough and there was a lot of tissue damage in the socket. I asked about sutures twice but was assured by the dentist that they are not necessary. Sutures would have minimized my chances for a dry socket significantly. Trusting the dentist was a huge mistake on my side.
- I showed up for a follow up visit a few days later (requesting a different dentist) and the dry socket was confirmed. On the follow up visit the dentist also had to remove 2 pieces of bone fragment left in the wound… I received a dressing with Alvogyl, which helped the healing process significantly.
In general my experience with Crescent Dental was very, very unpleasant. Pain from dry socket primarily.
I can see that most reviewers have a good opinion about CD. I can’t exclude that my example was a ‘once off’ slip. I really hope it's just that, a slip.
Update:
I have received a phone call from CD owner inquiring about the review. One thing is for sure - CD take customer satisfaction and their reputation seriously. I may have been a bit harsh in my original wording. 3/5 star review.response / report this review -

An excellent dental practise, all the staff are good communicators and friendly;
Dental advice and plans are second to none and treatments are highly professional.
Price is reasonable and medical card patents are welcome.

I was in terrible pain with my tooth and was given an emergency appointment the same day I rang . So impressed with this dental surgery . I was seen within 20 mins of arriving and my treatment was completed with minimal discomfort by Dr. Pauraic Keogh . Will certainly be returning to this dentist .

I am a very nervous patient and have found it difficult to get dental treatment in the past but after having my teeth treated under I.V sedation with Dr. Miriam Quilty I now have all my treatment done and I am delighted with the results . I would recommend any nervous patients to Dr. Quilty , she is extremely professional and puts you at ease . If I could award more stars I would .

Recently had six month smiles treatment with Dr. Pauraic Keogh , delighted with the results couldn't be happier with the treatment that I received. I would highly recommend Dr. Keogh to anyone looking for that perfect smile .

I had a consultation and Hygienist visit today,and was very pleased with the excellent service provided. The staff were efficient and friendly. I cannot recommend this practice highly enough.

Was there yesterday and was bit nervous but Dr quilty changed that , she and her assistant did a fantastic job and are true professionals would recommend her to anyone , absolutely brilliant , thanks again.

Attended regarding wisdom tooth pain . The dentist was not very pleasant Informed me that he had been awake since early morning in response to my asking of questions regarding the surgery I was told I required. Would not use this dentist again

Great service.lovely people. Was lucky to get an appointment fast too. Was nervous getting a tooth out but Dr Quilty was amazing and really friendly. Didn't feel a thing. Definitely would recommend crescent dental. Thanks
