Excellent bar with great atmosphere . The musicians are not hired they just turn up and blast away around 9 or tenish. Lovely staff especially the barmaid Siobhan who recently started working there . It is right in the centre of Kilkenny and offers excellent comfort culture and most of great pints. Highly recommended going there.

Best trad music session during my Ireland trip, held every Monday night. Great diversity of song styles and real traditional instruments. Humorous and earnest host. Loved it when different folks in the bar guested on songs. They ended the night with a really sweet song about taking care of God's creatures. The most authentically Irish-feeling experience I've had so far; it felt like coming home. An absolute highlight.

The highlight of my time in Kilkenny was accidentally catching the trad session on Monday nights. It felt more intimate and personal than other trad sessions I'd seen in larger cities. The pub and its staff were top notch; I'd eat there again in a heartbeat, even without the music.

Was at at trad session Monday half 9 would definitely recommend this pub. To any person few pints, great Craic and great music 🎶

Cleere's Bar and Theatre is a lovely place to watch a show. I've found the ticket price to be very reasonable and good value for money.

The people who run this place are an example of the Irish at their best. I took a bad fall in front of their bar one afternoon and they were on the spot helping me, taking me into the bar to recuperate enough to walk back to the hotel. I went back the next day to eat there and thank them for the help. When I went to pay, the owner wouldn't have it. He was a gentleman of the highest order and made me feel welcome beyond words. By the way, I love the bar, the atmosphere, the food and the choices of beer. There is no bar better in Kilkenny. Thanks for the wonderful welcome.
