Loved the castle and village walkthrough! Such an amazing castle. It really takes you back through time because the rooms and stairs are original (and a little bit of a tight squeeze!)
We also had dinner at the castle which was AMAZING. Once in a lifetime for sure.
The village is great. You'll see several cottages of the time and in the handful of shops here, everyone working is so nice and helpful
Great place to get a sense of Irish life in the 1700s and 1800s. Both time periods are represented in two different villages. Also, many things for the kids including the best fairy village ever!! Beautiful place just to take a walk, grab a bite to eat, or be a tourist. Love this place! And yes, there is shopping with the tourist in mind. A great place to spend an hour or a day!
This place is one of the gems in the west of Ireland. Unfortunately, it may get overlooked, as people generally only stay in the area as it is quick access to the Shannon Airport. The castle here is quite amazing and one of the most complete you'll find in Ireland. It has a very bloddy history that many will be interested to hear from the historians that give tours. The folk park is overshadowed by the castle, yet is a must see as a replica of the way things were in the 1600's. If you are around in the evening, the castle hosts dinners in the medieval theme that are quite entertaining with tasty food. All in all, Bunratty shouldn't just be a stopover point for quick access to the airport, but a destination for those interested in historical castles.
Really loved Bunratty! Bunratty Village is fun to walk around, including medieval shops, live animals, and even a Fairy Village. Bunratty Castle itself is really fun. You can walk all around the interior, read about its history, and take in the view from the ramparts. Additionally, you can join by separate reservation a medieval banquet hosted by professional period actors - step through the castle gate and step back in time!
A really good place to visit. The castle itself is fascinating. Lots of rooms to explore, but lots of stairs to climb too. On top of that the cottages and old highstreet exhibits are good to explore too, and show how life once was. We ran out of time to see the far and and Bunratty house. Would suggest allocating 5-6 hours, and would say its time well spent.
We adore Bunratty Castle! It's a great spot for a day trip with the kids especially during the holidays! They have 'folk people' who teach you things along the way. Great friendly staff! There is a cafe serving an array of options. Or pack a picnic! We love loved the new fairy garden!? Soooo magical!
We loved Bunratty Castle and Folk Park! Our group enjoyed the Irish Ceilidh Evening presented there! I would love to return again to Ireland and experience the same day and evening again! That's how enjoyable the whole day and night was! A must see while in a Limerick!!!
The kids really loved it here, as did the adults!! Plenty of interesting homestead style homes to visit. The fairy garden was a highlight of the trip. Just make sure you wear your walking shoes because there are a LOT of stairs in that castle.
We also did the medieval banquet, and had an absolute blast. The entertainment was of a very high standard, with a few giggles, and the staff were brilliant. The food was quite good, and overall the night went very well.
A lot of work has gone into making this place the amazing folk park it's now Love the cottagesLeave out a full day as you will need the time to hear the enthusiastic staff talk about and demonstrate the past..As you walk through the park and get the story of each eara take time to think about what life must have been like for past generations living like thisA beautiful day out..And if you can finish your day as we did with a medieval banquet in the castle..Then you will have experienced something very specialThe entertainment was wonderful in the castleYes Definitely recommendedWear walking shoesMy feet were killing me by evening..
Fab place. Fairy garden added since our last visit. Magical for children. Would love to do banquet sometime
I thought this a fantastic place. We were in here for hours and left a while after everyone else left. It felt great seeing how people lived years ago. A good experience.
Absolutely incredible! A fascinating and engaging grounds and castle to explore. We literally just finished the Medieval Banquet, and it was, without a doubt, the best night of our 12 day tour around the British Isles.
If your visiting the Shannon region, Bunratty is not to be missed. Tip, arrive early, have lunch in Gallagher's Restaurant, beside the castle, browse Meadow and Burns, and some drinks in Durty Nellie's Pub, before heading to the Castle, a leisurely walk on the grounds, before heading to the early Medieval Banquet, in the castle itself. Advise staying over!!! You won't be going anywhere after the Banquet, copious amounts of Bunratty Meade will be consumed, by all present. It's a great day's and night entertainment.
This place is epic. So much fun for kids and adults alike. So much history and so much fun in one place. Playgrounds and fairy parks for the kiddies then all that history with the castle and folk park. Amazing time here. Just wished I came early in the morning to spend all day here..
