    They're just ruins like a lot of others scattered around Ireland. Furthermore, I think they're used by some farmers as a shelter for the cattle.

    A remarkable ruin of an old Benedictine Abbey. The Benedictines were never strong outside the south and east of Ireland.

    One interesting feature here is the columbinarium. The sign says the monks used the building for pigeon eggs as a source of protein; in fact it was the place where they kept the skulls of the dead monks with the bones inside. It was a form of burial uncommon in Ireland
