Great experience, we really enjoyed it. The guide worked in the mine, so we got firsthand information and that made the tour even more vivid than any video or museum. Fantastic!!

The tour was given by a charming individual Jimmy! He had mined Arigna and this made the tour very special, it was extremely interesting to hear a first hand account. He was also extremely clear and made sure we all understood his explanations. He was also a bit of Craic and made us laugh with anecdotes and jokes!

Great way to spend 2 to 3 hours. A really well run community project and the fact the guides all worked there as young people brings the reality to life. Top spot.

Stumbled across this attraction. I was really surprised at how good this four was. Ring hosted by the last remaining miners makes this tour authentic. I would really recommend this visit if you are in the area.

Great place, very good as it gives you a feeling of how life was like foe the men and boys who worked there. Worth the visit. Also great scenery on the way up to it.

Lovely tour guide and that the man on advertisements that is coming out of the mine with a torch is actually my great grandfather mickey rynn
Also lovely restaurant and gift shop would recommend for the whole family at Christmas's time to see santa claus in the mines!

This museum is a special place. Before you go in to the museum take a few minutes to take in the wonderful view which extends to many counties on a clear day. We (Shannon Archaeological & Historical Society) had a lovely tour of the mine with a retired miner. Only five miners left now apparently. These miners (who maintain the mine and make it safe for visitors) with the help of the local community got this museum up and running so we wouldn't forget and to pay tribute to the coal-miner's way of life that was. Our tour of the mines was done with passion tinged with sorrow because of the working conditions these miners worked in and from about 12 years of age too. A testament to the great people who worked here. They will not be forgotten. There is a lovely cafe and shop here also. Maybe to listen/read a few coal mining songs/poems before your visit would be beneficial.
