I was fortunate enough to have been able to participate in this field school program in 2015. I have to say that without this field school, I would not have the field work opportunities that I have now. It is because of this program that I have able to get work as an archaeologist. The staff go above and beyond for you and really want to see you succeed. The cost is a direct reflection on the amount of knowledge and skills that you are given through this experience. In my opinion, you can't really put a price on what I learned there.
You get hands on experience on site and in the lab. There are also weekly field trips to the surrounding areas which are amazing and educational at the same time.
This is program made me feel very confident in my abilities as a future archaeologist by the time that I was finished.

I couldn't recommend this field school more. Do it and have a blast!

I had a wonderful experience at this field school. I had some minor medical issues while there and they were beyond helpful with them. The staff was knowledgeable and clearly educated about local archaeology and I truly enjoyed not only the school, but the people I met during my short stay there. It was a life changing experience for me and I highly recommend it for anyone looking for an education and a good time!

The school not only delivers valuable knowledge about archeology, but teaches you skills that can be utilized over a variety of different disciplines and professions. Achill Field School has boosted my confidence and eagerness to learn and explore new areas of the science field as well as other parts of the world.
My experience with the field school as a student and as a supervisor allowed me to determine my future career path. It was, by far, the greatest learning experience I have ever been apart of since it provided a comfortable learning environment along with extremely qualified teachers, who aim to pass along as much of their knowledge as possible. The interactive field work and time spent on the site was exciting, interesting and truly shows the steps in regards to archaeology. I am originally from America but after many summers spent at the Achill Field School I have decided to continue my coursework and acquire a Masters degree in Dublin, potentially even looking for a permanent job in the Achill area.

I spent to summers in Achill Field School and both of them were amazing. I enjoyed every single minute of that trip. We had some amazing excavations and I managed to meet some very inspiring people.

Achill Field School allowed me to fall in love with archaeology and I would definitely recommend it to everyone, with or without any knowledge of the archaeological field.

To prove my love for the Field School, I am returning for a second summer! Yes, you have to pay to get there, but the accommodations are wonderful and if there are problems, the staff is always there to help. The sites are beautiful and you learn every step of the archaeological process. I have attended other digs including a different field school and several volunteer digs and this is by far the place I most recommend studying if you are serious about archaeology!
