A nice budget hotel. But we got our room with a fake window, that is actually a wall. So if you need a window, make sure to inform the staff in advance.

If you aim for shopping at Tunjungan Plaza, then this hotel will be a good value for your money. The atmosphere is so traditional Javanese with gamelan music along the corridors. Beds are okay but my room was not so clean. bathroom was very narrow, standard toiletries were okay and usable. Breakfast was nice with varieties of menu, love it! Especially the nasi goreng and bubur kuah, Tasty! They also have a good coffee here. No swimming pool, no gym, but they offer spa. The staffs were friendly and helpful. And they do have a clean and nice Moslem prayer room (my room was not large enough to do a prayer with my husband). So yes, my 4 stars for this hotel because I was just aiming for Tunjungan Plaza which is located in a walking distance, and this is a good choice for a budget stay.

This Hotel is really bad. They don't have a gym or any sort of sport equipment. I caught the cleaning service through a peep hole cleaning the room across me and they took only 5 mins to clean, they only change the sheets sweep the floor and swept the remaining dusts outside the door to the door way, talking about laziness. The hotel doesnt have lighters to give out and even to borrow, but they have smoking areas in the cafe and smoking rooms.
And don't even get me started on the breakfast! Ive had breakfast in hundreds of hotels and this is by far one of the worst!

Actualli Varna culture hotel is great hotel. The location at Jl Tunjungan which is one of the historic street in Surabaya. Near from the biggest mall in Surabaya, Tunjungan Plaza. The design using javanese ethnic, so somehow you dont feel at Surabaya but in Jogjakarta. The breakfast is nice and completed for the 3 star hotel.
One that I dont like from this hotel is the perfume. I think It is good, but I dont like the smell.

Its a good hotel with positive vibe and staff. Breakfast is good and not only indonesian food. Beds are comfortable and big so u can get great rest. They provide smoking room also.

The Varna Culture Hotel Soerabaia,Jl Tunjungan,Genteng,Kota SBY is an absolutely wonderful place to stay from the minute you arrive at reception you know your stay is going to be great because the staff are so warm and welcoming.I have stayed at many hotels around the world and would not hesitate in saying my Varna Hotel experience was total from start to finish from management to cleaners I have never found before truely awsome.
