Apart from its beauty, Samosir offers many things to enjoy. Stone chair, old grave, dancing puppet, tribal show such as tortor and so on.

It is an island in the biggest volcanic lake in the world, you can enjoy the view, the water, the food, and see the traditional house of Batak tribe

An island in the middle of a lake formed by an ancient volcanic eruption, inhabited by an ethnic group with a fascinating culture (the Toba Batak) - now thats worth a 4 hour drive from the nearest airport + a 45 minute ferry crossing. Life on the island is simple & laid back . Worth driving/riding up to the higher reaches & exploring the local coffee plantations, stopping for some beautiful photographs along the way.visiting Ambaritha village & hiring the resident guide for an entertaining insight in to Batak daily life before the missionaries moved in.
Try the local Batak food - would recommend Maruba restaurant on Tuk Tuk.

You can enjoy the beauty of Lake Toba and beauty of Samosir Island from here. Samosir Island is the island that appeared after the Krakatau Volcano eruption.

Samosir is synonimous with Lake Toba - it's where tourists stay to enjoy the lake's scenery - it's quite a natural wonder, being an island (it's really a peninsula but cut off by a man-made canal) within a large lake, and houses two lakes of its own. Most of the hotels are old and the roads are small. You have to climb the hills to get a lofty view of the lake because once the hotels set themselves up at the shore, you can't access it - the shores are not public.

Beautiful island on Lake Toba. If u dare to try a little bit adventurous way to "tour" Lake Toba, u can rent a motor bike to round island. The scenery sure will "win" your heart, make u stay for few more days. Don't forget to visit nearby hot spring and waterfall, as well as pasir putih at sunset.
