Impressive architecture inside. Unfortunately the pickup and exit area are surrounded by illegal taxi man and parallel porters. They create panic situation to get clients while security staff seems to be busy in scrolling their smartphones or engage in endless in smoking.

Great architecture, big terminal, and nice waiting lounges in front of the gates. Unfortunately, the toilets smells so bad and I would not recommend them. Few of the toilets are broken, and you need to be very careful with your belongings on the arrival hall. Becareful with strangers. It's really unsafe.

The busiest airport in Sulawesi. It is almost the hub for eastern part of Indonesia. It is moderate size airport. There are dozen of shops or cafes at the boarding area. You can find also gift shops. There are two prayer rooms, one at the group floor for arriving passengers and another one at the upper floor in front of gate 1. It has international embarkation as well.

Needs improvement still in many services. Be careful outside - traditional tricks to rip you off from money Keep eye on your belongings and avoid contact with insisting strangers. They use kind of black magical tricks. When you come in or out or transit lock your checked luggage and never put any valuables in. Famous thieves airport.

I just love this place.
1. The biggest airport in East Indonesia
2. Quite comfort.. but don't compare to Bali or Kualanamu
3. Too bad lot of illegal smoker here and it stinks
4. Food are okay but I dont really enjoyed it.
5. There are Ibis budget hotel for 400K
6. Grab and Gocar allowed now but they pay monthly fee.
7. Toilet are not so clean
8. Crowded during busy hours.

Bandara yang cukup ramai. Disini ada beberapa pilihan transportasi untuk menuju ke kota. Untuk bus kota bertarif 27 ribu rupiah. Sedangkan untuk ojek motor berkisar 50 ribu rupiah. Untuk taksi bandara ataupun taksi online berkisar seratus hingga seratus dua puluh ribu rupiah. Tarif belum termasuk parkir dan tol. Jarak Bandara Sultan Hasanuddin dari kota Makassar cukup jauh. Sekitar 20 kilo meter. Disarankan untuk menggunakan jalan tol apabila berkendara roda empat. Karena banyak titik kemacetan.

It’s getting better than many years before. There is a smoking room and the parking lot are enough for cars and motorcycles. Unfortunately, the line in front of picking up and dropping down is sooo crowded. Need a better rule for all drivers

One of the airports with modern design in Indonesia. Everything is awesome except the smelly toilet and narrow arrival hall.

UPDATE: no more baggage screening at the entrance but will be carried out near the check in counter.

The arrival section is a bit packed but the departure is spacious, convenient with multiple eateries and shop. However for international flights, you cannot exit once you have enter it. Make sure to shop before entering the international departure

It is the main gateway for flights to the eastern part of Indonesia (vise versa), and named after Sultan Hasanuddin, a Sultan of Gowa who fought against the Dutch East India Company in the 1660s.
It was previously named Kadieng Flying Field, built in 1935 by the government of the Netherlands Indies. The government of Japan expanded the field using Romusha and renamed it Field Mandai in 1942.

Bandaranya kecil tapi cantik. Desain atapnya keren. Saya sempat menginap semalam di bandara ini untuk transit. Saya terbang dari Jakarta - Makassar malam hari dengan Garuda Indonesia, kemudian melanjutkan lagi penerbangan dari Makassar - Sorong di esok pagi harinya. Banyak tempat duduk yang bisa dipakai untuk beristirahat dan banyak colokan listrik untuk charge hp/gadgets disini.

Great design and one of the cleanest airports in Indonesia. Includes wi-fi which many Indonesian airports don't provide. Only problems are in the drop-off zones especially. Many taxi drivers offer you a drive even if someone is picking you up. It's a havoc in the both the arrivals and destination. The airport is getting busier every year.

The entryway to the Departures area is overcrowded just like most Indonesian airports. I guess it's just part of our culture to always act this way. But the airport itself is very nice and comfy, plus the executive lounge is perfect to spend your time for just IDR 115,000.

International airport with fabulous interior design. The announcement sound speaker full of echo, people sleep on the whole couch in the waiting lounge, the cab services is poor. Online taxi doesn't allow here, the airport taxi driver has a really bad attitude!

There's a locker in 1st floor inside the terminal near the luggage claims. Rent is 20k per day. Great if u're just transit but have lots of baggage and still want to sightseeing for a day. There is also an Ibis hotel, the rent is 350k-1200k per 12 hours. The staffs are friendly, as long as u smile & polite, they'll help you fix your problems. Online taxis are available in Makassar but if u want to get out from the airport, please use the airport taxis to help the local economy. Bosowa charge with argo based prices, the other use coupon system calculated based on region u want to go to. Welcome to Makassar.

The announcement board is not updated with newest change (updates, gate changes, delays) so airline staff have to shout on the waiting lounge, in Indonesian, so tourists may be confused.

Very few food choices, all of them are at very expensive. Very few of them accepted credit cards, even A&W only accepted cash. Announcement is not clear, it sounds garbled and sometimes the announcement does not announce the English one.

Seatings are plenty and quite comfortable, could be used well for sleeping. The airport is airy and comfortable. There are good numbers of ATM machines fir those that need cash. Free Internet is also available.

An international airport with 6 domestic gates and 1 intnl gate, large enough for walk or sleep during early morning transit travellers. Displays and interior ornamental are not so called atteactive. The airport do not allocate smooking room, so smoker must buy a coffee or tea in one of available coffee shops which provide room for smoking. Toilets and prayer rooms are available.

Being a place for many airplanes to transit. I came here once, and the service from the airport wasn't good/friendly enough. For a place where many airplanes will transit, they should give good service, especially facilities from bus transport, ranging to the porter too.

Only twice stepped in Sultan Hasanuddin airport, both for transit Surabaya - Manokwari and Jayapura - Surabaya. Hopefully next time could explore areas of the city of Makassar.

Cab service so so bad. One of them pretend to help with the laguages but turn out hoping payment. Airport security are doing nothing about this. Airport Taxi service counter seems forcing us to pay for non argo cab. This is so so bad service. Nothing like they say about this airport beauty. 5 star for Disapointment 😡

Currently there's a maintenance work inside. But getting better each time with no more glass boundaries and features like green walls added. Some unique seating added and yes there are free charging spots near the gates. I've always had a clean toilet (and nice cleaner inside who'll inform you things you can't heard when you're in the stall ha!). But sometimes there's a leakage (idk from the roof or duct) in the waiting room so check out the seat before you sit. And thank god there's a Starbucks.

worst airport management, lines are chaos ever since the main entrance to check in counters, people are swarming out of control and securities are overwhelmed but seem relax as if it's normal for them, local people are unorganized and pushing each other trying to get in.. better be prepared and do city or web check in to make sure all done before arriving

Twice in a month visit here since 2013. Taxi shelter is crowded, passenger announcement is bad quality sound(too much treble and echo). First impression heresurprised! Lion air airport crew is shouted the passenger like in bus stationsurabaya surabaya! Jakarta jakarta!..hehe. Good passenger security check.
