1. An amazing place
2. Amazing history of Indonesia dioramas
3. The top was beautiful, you can see Jakarta buildings' light in the night
4. The statues in the park area nearby are amazing because of the detail, lightening, composition, mixture of full statues to reliefs, the icons are also historic
5. It is a place of many events
It's a very beautiful park, so many people gathering there. The monument is a unique symbol of Jakarta, it has some amount of gold at the top. You can have local snacks there, Indonesian are so friendly, you can communicate with people. It's the best place to take pictures and get a fresh air.
National Monument is the icon of Jakarta. If you go to Jakarta you must come here. When weekend night this place is quite crowd, you must be careful. This place doesn't provide chairs for sit. If you wanna enjoy traveling here like picnic you must bring cushion or carpet. Enjoy here with your friends and family hattadev
The National monument of Indonesia. A popular place for people to gather on weekends and holidays. The structure is located in the center of a park area that also contains various food and souvenir stores as well as park area to relax in. A small fee to enter the structure via an underground tunnel. Inside there is a small museum where many people shelter from the heat. You can climb up to the top of the structure which provides a nice view of the surroundings. Definitely worth visiting if you are in Jakarta.
great place to visit went there few years ago a lot of people there variety of strait food as well easy transportation to go there clean as well
Fine monument, but other than that, there's not much here and the access to the monument is horrible as fences circles the square.
This is THE icon of Jakarta For licensed drone pilots, the gold-tipped monument is also the ultimate spot to fly LEGALLY because of the strict airspace/local/security clearance that has to be obtained before one is allowed to fly within its premises without getting into trouble. Once all of that is taken care of, it’s really worth the effort.
A good and historical place for the people of Indonesia. All people from all around the country are confirmed know this landmark. It’s a must to visit here if you are managed to visit Jakarta especially if you are first timer. It is very near and accessible by foot from the Jakarta’s main train station, Gambir train station. It shines lights during the evening.
Memories are made of these for the better Indonesia. Pray also for us, the lung of this planet and the musical hearts of many islands. God bless us for at least a reason.
Spacious monument area. Definitely get past the market area quickly. All kinds of original food and souvenirs available. But not what we came to see. The parking was out of control. Glad we got a spot. The monument is very picturesque in the Jakarta sky line. If you have time enjoy the grassy areas for lounging or a picnic.
good place for photography. road sign are minimum to none, we have difficulty navigating inside this park. no brochure or map for visitors.
but the lighting is pretty good we can take nice photos at night almost anywhere.
the place are clean.
good place for run or jog, even in the evening.
The best place for you who need refreshing your mind, this place usually for jogging every morning, the environment is so friendly, so green yet so hot, because you know you are in jakarta. This place good for family vacation, sport, photography, or the other event. You need to come and visit this national monument, this place is greatly awesome.
Wow.. Good fun and Great views!!
You get to see the view of Jakarta city.
I've been here several times, but this is the first time to rise to the top, with my parents.
Come in the morning to avoid the queues.
When you visit Jakarta, this place should definitely be on your list of things to see.
The most iconic place in Jakarta. You haven't come to Jakarta if you don't see this monument. If you don't have problems with altitude, you can go up to the highest floor to enjoy the view of Jakarta. They close on Monday but the area is possible to be visited at any time
A great place to visit with your family especially if you have young kids. The place is huge and well taken care. It is crowded in the weekend with families and friends just hanging out and killing time. A good track for walking and slow jog. A must visit place in Jakarta
It's been a while since the last visit here and decided to watch the super blood blue moon here last January. The district govt should expose this area more esp. for night visit because the place is so bright with shot lights everywhere, nice area for late run exercise as well. You can have a small picnic or gather with friends there.
The pride of all Indonesians for fighting for independence. I dilute the Indonesian government for educating their people by having a pictorial museum on the lower level. And if u r lucky, u may be able to witness the opening of the golden door which has a hidden golden frame face and contains the declaration of independence signed by the first Indonesian president. Also, u can view the city of Jakarta from the top level by using lift from the back entrance. Notice on the tip of the monument with the shape of frame is plated with 50kg of pure gold😘😘😘
Most of the gated were closed. Only one gate open.. Was feeling thirsty but no place to drink or buy water inside.. Very dark inside.. Only few lights were on.. I think it is only open at day time.. Next time will try to go during na day time.. Although very clean Calm and zero pollution.
A MUST to-go place when you are in Jakarta! There are parks and food court nearby and also you can come and visit the museum. If you lucky enough, you can go on the top of Monas ( normally many people in line from the entry door, for the lift). My suggestion is you can come there during weekdays to avoid the long queue. A good place for hangout and morning jogging.
Our pride Indonesia landmark. You can learn national history with diorama view. You can see Jakarta cityscape from the top of monument. Also, Nice place to jogging.
Nice place to spend your morning doing exercise. Clean and fresh. Come on Saturday morning and you'll find plenty of space to jog.
Tall monument proudly displayed in a beautiful park surrounded by greeneries in the midst of the ever hectic Jakarta. For 15000rp you'll get to head all the way up the tower for a bird's eye view of this beautiful city.
Take note, it does get very crowded as only one lift operates to bring tourist up and down the peak. Hence always try to be ahead of the pack on the beginning of the time slot.
If the walk might be too far, don't forgot to hop on the buggy which offer free rides to visitors who purchase tickets to enter the monument.
Nicely built monument and museum to showcase Indonesia's independence. Well maintained garden and huge surrounding area. I couldn't find any direction board at the entry for tourists who come from abroad to guide correctly to the monument. You will have to enter through an underground pathway to the main structure. However the security personnel are helpful though they speak only few English words. They charge a nominal fee to enter the monument. There is only one elevator to take all visitors to the top viewing deck and therefore you have to wait in a queue. The view from top is wonderful. There are few telescopes fixed but not that much powerful to see a vast area clearly.
A good place to spend time with your family. You can find people jogging in morning and evening times in the garden area. The tower in the middle consists of three sections the museum, theatre and topmost are to view the city in glance.
It takes 2-3 hours to reveal it completely. The view from the top of the monument is very charming. The underground museum is a innovatieve one. There is are playgrounds in front of the monument to play football, basketball.
Amazingly high tower that you can take the elevator up. Nice view of the city.
Unfortunately the queue is very very slow as there is only one elevator.
Bit of a walk to get in too.
Recommend evening time when it is less hot after the sun goes down.
So Much better than the last time I came. No more smelly pool and everything is just getting better.
Hard parking access. The small museum inside the monumen is great. The views from the top of the monument are standard.
Iconic Indonesia's building. Look the beautiful scenery of Jakarta from the top. And you can also just jogging or cycling with family and friends in this area.
This 132m tall monument was opened to public in 1975.
It is located in the centre of Merdeka Square.
Formerly there are many stalls around it that obstructed its beauty.
Of late all stalls are cleared and all restaurants are placed in one corner.
If you come on a public holiday the waiting time for the elevator may reach 3 hours.
From the top of the monument you can see Jakarta but haze will prevent you from having good visibility.
So come here on normal day after a shower. Everything is clear.
There is a museum in this monument. However the lighting is poor.
Before reaching the top there is a large verandah (open space) where you can relax and get fresh air.
A nice place to see. The museum below the monument showing the history of Indonesia's very interesting and nice to go through. A good way to kill a couple hours
It's fun to go to this place. But i's going warm and hot when it's turn to 9 a.m or 10 a.m. You should bring eyeglasses or a hat and long sleeves arm. But when it's early morning, many people doing sports here like run, basketball, volleyball, etc.
Good view. It is free enterance just to the park. Good for jogging track. Not recommended to go in daylight. It has 2 football and 1 basketball courts. There is a mosque and are a lot of traditional food stall outside the park. This place has historical value. Also, there is a museum inside the Monas building. There is a train that will ride you from the gate to the main building.
Indonesia's landmark! Clean and neat! You can do your morning exercise (jogging, playing basketball, and many else) in here. Have a parking lot near food centre. They provide public car to go around at Monas area.
Historical place with a good view. But the lift to go up there were very slow. So the queue were very long. The bathroom need more maintenance
A good spot to walk and enjoy alone or with your family as well. You are allowed to take your bike, but no walking or stay on the grass. Drone are not allowed too. Monas can be visited and you can go to the top but don't go too late if not no enough place for everybody :-)
Asik lah buad nyari pokemon mah Diem aja duduk di bawah patung kuda. Ramee pokemon pd dtg hahaha..
Makanan nya banyak di lenggang jakarta. Tp hrs punya kartu e-money.
Mo masuk naik ke atas monas harus punya kartu nya bank DKI.
Don't forget to bring drinks of you want to queue to top. The queue can takes 2 hours.
Learn history with fun. There are dioramas with explanations about Indonesia's histories.
I just realised it made by marble and it's very beautiful if you visit about sunset and night.
Prepare to wait for a long time. When we got there we were told the queue was going to he at least 5hours. It's best to visit at night. The park surrounding it is beautiful too
The view at the top is really nice!!!
You have to go underground to get to the tower as there is a grid all around it. Look for the entrance, it's a small tent on the side.
There are lots of illustrations under the tower, that will allow you to learn more about Indonesia history.
It is situated the Independent Memorial Park in central Jakarta, right next to Gambir train station. It is a vast landmark, with the superbly tall monument. The highlight of the landmark is that the story of history be illustrated in such a miniatures and the adorned platform. In the monument, you can also take elevator to the most top of the building, where it provides a spectacular view of Jakarta.
Monument surrounded by large park and grass area. People from Jakarta come here to escape the busy city and relax. We couldn't go in the monument because it opened at 7 pm. But if you want views it's better to go to some observation deck like the Skye Bar.
Nice place for picnic with family, you can enter the museum inside and going up with elevator to see jakarta from above. You can enjoy this place at night too.
This is Jakarta's biggest scam
Good thing is that there's no tourist price for entry. What's not nice is that only two gates are open for entry, disallowing the use of the massive park surrounding the monument as a pedestrian thoroughfare around the city centre.
To enter, you *need* to buy an NFC prepaid card. Even on a slow day, the queue to the top is horrendous: not particularly long but moves very slowly, due to the lift only taking about 7 people on each slow trip (we queued for about 1 hour).
There was nothing to see at the top and the penny binoculars didn't come with any instructions. You would then have to queue to come back down (another 1/2 hour, no stairs).
You might have some fun with the diorama, giving you a condensed view of the history of Indonesia.
Jakarta lovely icon. A tower in the heart of Jakarta, surrounded with park. The top of the monument is a huge gold plate. You can go up to the viewing point but you must be willing to queue for quite long especially during holiday. The entrance to the complex is free, but the fee for going up is IDR 10,000 / adult, 2,000 / child. A lot of people jogging and exercising every morning and afternoon here. But nowadays, there are no more people selling foods or drinks inside. Better bring your water.
It's a nice big Park, and a tower. Most gates to the park are closed. It's nice to walk about in relative peace. You can assend the tower (can't remember the price, I think 50k idr?) for a smoggy view of a huge city. Paths etc are a little run down. There are deer in one section of the park.
Walking in the green alleys covered with trees is changing from the crowd of Jakarta. If you want to enter the monument, you will have to buy a card to pay the entry fee of 5.000/person. Inside the monument you will find a little museum, describing the history of Indonesia. It's a good and simple way to learn more about the past of the islands.
MONAS definitely should be on the top list of everyone visiting Jakarta. Not going to Monas is like visiting Paris without going to Eiffel. Or visiting New York without going to Liberty. Or visiting KL without going to Petronas Twin Tower.
Monas is the icon of Indonesia. The obelisk, topped with Flame shaped or some say woman-shaped ( myth said that if you see Monas from Merdeka Palace, it looks like woman ) made of gold has been the landmark of Jakarta since 1975. The floor just under the flame house an observation deck, where you can see 360 degree views of Jakarta. The view from up there is breathtaking !
If you are afraid of heights, you can just walk around the park around Monas, known as Merdeka Square. The park is like an oasis in the middle of bustling Jakarta.
Best time to visit Monas is on 3 P.M onwards. If you visit Monas on 12 P.M, make sure you are all covered cause it is soooo hotttt. Or you can even try their new Night Program. The night scene from above is just another sight to behold :)
Nice place to hang out if you like an outdoor area on the center of Jakarta. It is a Jakarta icon. In the center of Monas area, there is Monas tower. It has gold on top of it. In the old days there are many street vendors that offer many varieties of foods or souvenirs, but because of the new government law, they are disciplined and forbidden now. The government said it is because of aesthetic issue. If you here, it is better to buy snacks or drinks from outside. Inside it has a small stall near the entrance that offer drinks and snacks with high price. Sometimes people with bag are approaching you to offer drink too inside(usually mineral water) and they do it secretly, because it is forbidden by the law. If you come here by night, the beauty is more enhanced because of the lights effect.
An iconic monument of Jakarta, and maybe Indonesia. Surrounded by many government offices. Easy to access from everywhere(near Gambir Train Station).
You could go to the peak to view Jakarta landscape from top. There are also some pictures about Indonesian history.
Because it's open space, it will be hot to visit in the afternoon. Better visit on morning or evening. The souvenir stores now are all available at South. Just be smart to bargain anythings here.
Great Historical Place and Family Recreation. It has lively dioramas that tells Indonesian history. Of course, a must visit to the top of Monas if you haven't been there. Around the site, the large garden and yard will easily be the place for family picnic.
Its a brand renewed location. Now camw with a feature of night watch. You can comebat night, climb up high and watch Jakarta scenery at night. Nice!
One of the most historical place in Jakarta.
I rarely come here, but the last time I came here, the museum already had had a worn out look. Looking very contrast with its look from the outside, the inside has a creepy atmosphere. It is lacking of light, there are litters everywhere, and many visitors sitting literally everywhere (I guessed they came for hanging out not sightseeing). Too bad. And the last bad news from this museum is the elevator jammed in the mid of its journey to the top when there were people inside.
I hope the government will take action to renovate the museum to a more international level.
Pengen kesini lagi
Please please please try the night attraction!
Since 2016, the acting governor of DKI Jakarta opened the Wisata Malam Monas, where you can try the binocular on top of the monument for a spectacular view of the city.
Nothing really special since the national monument ground but it's one of the most historical place in Indonesia because Mr.Sukarno designed it and built it. I love when they. Play the proclamation speech inside the building, the lift to go to the top is unbelievably slow so you need to be a bit patient
