The replica of Istano Basa Pagaruyung (Grand Palace of Pagaruyung), which we visited and witnessed, shows how magnificent the Minangkabau cultural heritage and history are. This palace was first built in 1804, but was burned several times, namely in 1804 during the Padri War, in 1966 and in 2007 due to lightning strikes.

Visitors who come here, apart from being able to see Minangkabau culture which enriches Indonesian cultural values, can also take pictures wearing traditional Minang clothing for rent. There is now a more spacious parking lot on the southeast side of the palace.

A very beautiful palace. It takes about 2 hours drive to get here from Padang City. Entrance fee was only 15k. There's a rent shop for traditional costume and professional photographers to help you get amazing pics of your visit. If youre lucky, you will be able to watch traditional dance performance.

Salah satu destinasi pupular di Sumatera Barat. Bangunannya megah dengan ornamen detail di bagian dalam yg cukup membuat decak kagum.

Tapi.., Sangat disangkan ketika saya kesini sedang ada lomba mewarnai tingkat TK yg pesertanya dari beberapa kota di Sumatera Barat jadi ramenya minta ampunnn. Efek dari lomba ini luar biasa parah, sampah makanan dimana-mana, kotor. Masuk ke dalam istana juga kotor. Seharusnya sebagai cagar budaya, pihak pengelola lebih bijak, tidak mengadakan acara-acara yg justru merusak cagar budaya itu sendiri. Mungkin mengadakan lomba untuk anak TK disini tujuannya untuk mengenalkan budaya pada anak kecil, tp pertimbangkan juga dampaknya. Harus lebih dikelola dengan baik. Sy yg datang dari Jakarta cuma bisa geleng2 kepala, di dalam istana penuh sesak anak TK dan orangtuanya, tak cuma itu kotor, banyak benda yg tidak semestinya berserakan di lantai.

I love the architecture. One of the best etnic house in Indonesia. Unfortunely there is nothing can make me stay longer after travelling so far to this place. Took the photo outside and inside then leave in 30 minutes. Too bad

The palace has been renovated twice due to fire. The drapes are beautiful and the architecture was very interesting and meaningful. You can ask for a guide to explain to you every single history of the palace.

It's beautiful palace in West Sumatra. You can rent "baju adat" here for female or male. The place is clean, and the people friendly. It will be better if there's any tour guide to explain the historical story of the palace.

you can rent a traditional attire (full with the accessories) in the basement before entering the palace, many beautiful spot for capturing pictures, there's many souvenir/gift shop near the parking lot, it will be a little bit crowded in long weekend/public holiday, but the palace is really worth to visit.

Pusat Dokumentasi dan Informasi Kebudayaan Minangkabau (PDIKM)

PDIKM adalah salah satu museum di Sumatera Barat. Museum ini bersisikan berbagai macam informasi dan koleksi mengenai kebudayaan Minangkabau baik berupa dokumentasi audio maupun visual.
Dari depan kita akan melihat bangunan Minangkabau yaitu rumah #Gadang yang sangat megah khas dengan #Bagonjong nya. Semua terlihat asri, karena halaman rumah gadang di Minangkabau Village terdapat taman bunga yang tertata rapi. Semua terasa menyejukkan mata.

Di lantai bawah dari rumah gadang ini terdapat pelaminan khas Minangkabau yang didominasi oleh warna merah dan keemasan. Terlihat cerah khas pelaminan Melayu pada umumnya. Di dinding terdapat foto-foto yang menampilkan pengantin dari setiap daerah di Sumatera Barat.
Lantai atas rumah gadang di Minangkabau Village ini terlihat seperti kayu pada umumnya. Dengan meja dan kursi-kursi kayu, jug rak-rak kaca yang di dalamnya tersusun rapi koleksi buku seperti kamus lengkap bahasa Minang, kumpulan peribahasa Minangkabau, bermacam dokumen, lukisan, juga foto-foto sejarah Minangkabau di masa lampau.

Disini anda akan disuguhkan pengetahuan lengkap tentang Minangkabau, setiap sudut rumah Gadang ini memiliki makna yang akan membuat anda terkagum-kagum.

This palace is a replica of the original pagaruyung palace, because the original palace has been burned down, only a few can still be saved. But its uniqueness and beauty remain the same as the original. Price ticket Rp. 15000/person for domestic tourists, and 25000/person for international tourist.

What an amazing ancient place to visit. With only 15000 rupiahs (for domestic tourist) and 25000 rupiahs (for foreign tourist), you could get an entrance ticket and enjoy good journey inside this old palace. You can also hire a tour guide or buy nice picture of yourself from photographer inside the area.

Nice place to visit. The Istano (Royal Palace) Pagaruyung has many detailed woods ornament, unique design and three deck floor. Its wide open window in each floor gives us very good view to the nature environment outside. And the last, dont forget to rent the traditional minangkabau costume and shoot some instagramable picture.

This traditional Minang palace is very nice. You can hire traditional Minang costume to take a picture with only IDR35.000 for one set, except the sandals.

The indoor area of the castle need to be given extra care. Dust on the floor and spider webs on their ceilings & walls especially on the 2nd and 3rd floor.

Apart from the beautiful Pagaruyung castle as the background of your photo & the traditional Minangkabau clothing rental, there are nothing much interesting here.

Can't believe I had been here. Amazing palace, near from gadang watch and easy to get there. We can rent traditional clothes and take pictures. It also offers cheap entrance ticket for local and foreigner tourists, IDR7,000/pax for local adult and IDR12,000/pax for foreigner.

Awesome and worth the drive. Fee for foreigner. Once inside you can enjoy the the view from the huge building. Stairs are pretty steep inside so watch the climb in slippery socks.
