Good place to bring your kids to learn and see submarine. Unique but very hot inside. Adults may find this place not so interesting, but it's okay after all.

A unique tourist attraction and the first and probably last time I will get the chance to walk inside a submarine. Elevated in a paved area in the city. Tricky to get parking if in a car but parking is cheap at under a dollar. Route from car park to submarine difficult to find, nothing is sign posted. Found a ticket box and paid $1.50 to get in then there are 2 flights of stairs at each end of the submarine that will lead you inside. Its old and has some historical information which is interesting and the girls collecting tickets at the top of the stairs can tell you more. Photos are allowed inside and out so great for photographs. Like I said it's a once in a life time opportunity so worth a visit. The surrounding area is not that great with nothing else to see.

Monumen Kapal Selam (Monkasel) buka sampai jam 9.30 malam. Tiketnya hanya Rp 15 ribu per orang. Kita bisa masuk ke dalam dan menjelajahi kapal selam, mengetahui seperti apa torpedo dan ruang tidur awak, dll. Tapi tidak recommended bagi yang klaustrophobia. Setiap 1 jam sekali ada pemutaran film mengenai kapal selam dan tni al.

A real submarine you can enjoy from inside. Made by russia on 1952 and operated for about 30 years by our navy. It's actually a magnificent museum you must visit and study about. Entrance fee 15k/person. Parking area is huge, all thing inaide still authentic, torpedo is real, etc. Just be careful for anyone with claustrophobia because it's quite narrow in several rooms.

Very interesting place to visit. Never been inside a submarine before. In the cinema (building next to the submarine) you can see the history of the Indonesian navy. This submarine actually has been used by the Navy. When I visited the vessel several groups of school children were guided through the submarine. One could easily spend a few hours here. It's next to Surabaya plaza mall.

It is not an everyday occasion to board a submarine. When you spot one, and you had a chance to enter it, you just can't resist. The subs was a piece of art. It was Russian made. You still can even smell the fuel. You'll wonder how hard life would be for the crew. If you watched The Hunt for Red October, this one was not even close to it. So, come over and see it for yourself. It's a cool place for selfie.

Great naval public monument, in shape of a submarine. Formerly Russian-made Whiskey Class KRI Pasopati, this boat had served Indonesian Navy from 1962 till 1989. Struck from naval register in 1991, she was moved here in 1996, dedicated and opened to the public as a museum. Located next to Delta Plaza, The museum is quite interesting to visit, especially for those who are interested to know a Navy attack submarine from close by. There are also a place to relax outside, overlooking the Kali Mas, next to the monument. Unfortunately, the area is not wheelchair friendly.

This is actually a good place to visit. Near with Gubeng station and in the street way. Easy to find. The price is around Rp.10.000/ person. We can learn about sub marine. But I think the developer should make it more creative by adding some activity to make people stay longer and interesting.

Monkasel memang cukup menarik perhatian, mengingat letaknya yang berada tepat dipinggir jalan raya, di daerah pusat kota Surabaya.
Dengan biaya masuk 10ribu/org, kita sudah bisa melihat isi dari sebuah kapal selam 'vintage' itu, dan kalau beruntung kita juga bisa melihat video tentang sejarah kapal selam yang hanya diputar beberapa kali dalam sehari saja.
Untuk sebuah paket wisata sejarah, Monkasel kurang entertaining, di dalam kapal selamnya penjelasannya sangat minim tentang sejarah atau tentang bagian² dan fungsi dari kapal selam itu sendiri. Tidak tampak petugas/guide yang siap menerima rasa penasaran anak² saya ttg Monkasel pada saat itu, kecuali hanya dua org mbak penjaga tiket yang sibuk ngobrol sendiri. Too bad

Great place to know history about the submarine. There're explanations about the part in the sub, but the lack of tour guide left visitors with unanswered questions. There's also a video rama about the submarine itself and the story of Indonesian Navy which is very educational for kids, so it's highly recommended for family with kids or any schools who want to visit this monument for study tour purposes. There's still some lacks of facilities that could be improved, so it's only a 4 stars from me.

Mediocre tourist attraction in a big city. The submarine is cool to see (not cool temperature wise, it's literally a sauna) but there is so little information given it's really frustrating. You cannot spend much more than 5 minutes walking through the submarine as there are only tiny plaques for information and it's just a label (no background or expansion). If you actually want to learn then you have to watch the video, which might be ok (though not convinced tbh) but it is only down a free times per day so you have to be lucky to catch it! Not worth going very far out of your way for sadly

It's incredible to see a thing like this live, although there s nobody who can give you a bit of history about it and seems that some parts are missing but there s still a rocket there. 10k for the entrance seems legit. You'll find air conditioning inside.

sebuah monumen kapal selam yang berada ditengah kota surabaya, menimbulkan banyak kesan saat anda mendatanginya. dan setelah memasuki kapal selam, pastikan anda menghampiri videorama (bioskop) yang berada di depan kapal selam. kemudian anda bisa bersantai ditepi sungai dengan memesan beberapa camilan dan minum dari kantin yg tersedia. juga ada kolam renang kecil bagi keceriaan anak2 anda. When you like submarines a lot, then this place is highly recommended for you. The guide explains about the submarine so well and we can watch a documentary about the submarine itself. One thing I don't like is the temperature inside the submarine is really hot. Make sure you bring a fan inside. And carefully watch your head when you are inside the submarine.
Overall the monument is good. Many events have took place here and you can see the river view from the monument.

Monumen Kapal Selam (Monkasel) letaknya di tengah-tengah kota Surabaya. Sangat dekat dengan Stasiun Gubeng. Bisa menjadi alternatif wisata sejarah di dalam kota.

Untuk membangun monumen ini, kapal selam yang sekarang berdiri ini sebelumnya dipotong-potong sesuai dengan ukurannya kemudian disambung kembali saat sampai di lokasi. Di dalam kapal selam ruangannya masih lengkap seperti saat kapal ini masih aktif digunakan.

It located strategically in the city, right by the river. It has some local food stall and small pool for children.
It has Guide to guide visitor and explain what are the inside of the submarine and its story.
Inside of submarine is equipped with air conditioner, so it doesn't feel hot inside.

Small grounded war submarine.
Gives you an idea how the marines live beneath the surface of the sea.
Nice experience.
There is a war veteran instructor to show you around.
3 min walk to Plaza Surabaya.
