Really well maintained hiking trails around a beautiful old volcano. 15k entry for locals, 30k foreigners. There are some camping spots near the peak where you can stay for now extra cost.

Here is one of many cultural landscapes in Yogyakarta. I went there about 4 times and it never bored me. To go to the beautiful landscape of mother earth is my kind of refreshing. Gunung Api Purba Nglanggeran was one of my favorites.
The path is more easier to walk through than it was, so everyone can be here. I often see kids, young, adult, and sometimes there was old man. It always reminds me to not be easy to give up. Just be patient to get the peak, hehehe. I suggest you to visit this place to take a sunrise or a sunset moment. The photos below are taken from the sunset spot, in post 1.

WOw! Pertama kali saya menginjakkan kaki di sini mata saya langsung terpana dengan susunan batuan purba yang berukuran raksasa. Kagum dengan batuan yang masih kokoh berdiri. Harga tiketnya Rp.10.000 untuk Gunung Api Purba dan Rp.15.000 untuk Embungnya. Jalur trackingnya sudah bagus karena sudah tidak licin. Walaupun saya datang setelah hujan seharian tetapi masih aman untuk mendaki. Setelah sampai di Pos satu lumayan lelah. Begitu menuju pos dua saya menemukan banyak sampah yang tegeletak ditinggalkan oleh wisatawan yang tidak bertanggung jawab.

Beautiful place! We went trekking today in very early morning. There were direction boards here and there, which are helpful but many of them were not lighted with lamps so if you trek in early morning: prepare a torch. The track was nice! There were some steep and narrow ones, small stairs, etc. The view from the top was amazing! We even encountered a wild monkey. Unfortunately there were litters people left so it was a bit dirty. Overall, it is a nice place for a trek and refreshen from hectic Yogja Kota.

Ps. The ricefields view was superb!!!

Beautiful site. It's an hour and half driving from Yogyakarta, with a good paved road. Really enjoy the hiking and the view.

Super great view! It's clean, the sun shines so bright but when you enter the mountain, the trees keep you from the sun light, and if you are in the top of this mountain, you will see the greatest creature from Allah.

you can see all around of jogja city, mountain's and ocean. try climb on the middle of night and wait sunrise on top. very excited and safety but watched in rain season cause very slick. happy holiday and have fun😊

This place was great. If you want to know how to feel climb mountain, you must try to climb this mountain. No need a few days to climb it, just a hours and you can rest in a peak.

Very nice! Although it's not that high, you still need to be in a good shape. You can also stop at several spots if you're out of breath (like me! :D)
This place will be very slippery in the rain. I don't think it's suitable for children & elders unless they are very fit & already used to trekking.

Good place to spend the morning. Good hike, breathtaking view from the top. Not suitable for children or elderly. Also not recommended to do on rainy season. The track sometimes very steep and requires to climb using rope. Make sure to bring enough water to prevent dehydration.

You have to hike . If you're not in a good shape, or don't have several hours to spent, then go to Embung instead and enjoy the scenery of cliffs from there . The track well maintained. There are 5 huts. The first one is about 30 minutes hike. The last one is one hour away from the first hut I guess. Like many places in Yogya, the way out or go down is a lot easier or less steep. Use it instead. You won't break any rules. It's just further from the ticket gate, no one knows it prior hiking. so people tend to use the steep track . We informed by drinking sellers up there.

Not too interesting mountain, better known as Ancient Volcano, but fun for an easy hike. Hardly any tourists around, also not many locals. You can reach the top very easily within one hour.
