I'm not religious, but that doesn't mean I can't appreciate the architecture and the awe inspiring grandeur of this basilica. A must visit for anyone in Budapest and make sure to see the inside of the dome. It's beautiful.

Gorgeous architecture. I didn't get to go inside but it seems like they regularly throw events outside the building, which is nice. We were in Budapest for Thanksgiving weekend and they had a lovely Christmas market going on around the Basilica along with a cool projector show displayed with music, Christmas tree, and even skating rink.

Beautiful on the outside but even better is the Christmas market they kickoff the last Friday in November. Through Christmas Day they will have a market open every weekend with projection art on the basilica and food and ice skating. Truly a Christmas dream!!

Stunning place! The basilica is gorgeous! U have been in the most important ones in the world and this is surely in the top 5. There are also cconcerts inside and the possibility of walking up to see amazing views.

nice church in the city centre. really beautiful also inside. if you have the chance go up to the top! it more more exciting and cheaper then goin up on the "Budapest eye"

Absolutely gorgeous church. St Stephen Basilica is simply beautiful. Great views on top and lovely work on the inside of the church. Must see. We visited August 2010.

It's breathtaking. Stands tall at impressive 96 meters and It looks like the highest building in Budapest! It was crowded with tourists inside and out. Inside interior is beautiful as well. If you want, you can check out the views from the cupola, but you will have to pay for it. It's not that expensive (500 HUF), but it was overcrowded so we didn't go.

A stunningly beautiful church, but incredibly hostile staff. It is a shame really, but the ushers in the Basilica are beyond rude to both tourists and local worshipers alike. I witnessed one particularly grumpy employee nearly getting into physical confrontations with congregants as he pushed people out of the pews and through the exit doors following the last Sunday Mass. I am sure that it must be difficult dealing with inconsiderate tourist types all day, but this was quite a shameful display, particularly given that it was directed at folks attempting to pray in a Catholic house of worship. I was really looking forward to seeing St. Stephan's, but unfortunately my visit was ruined by the draconian staff members.

One of the best times I had in Budapest. The interior was amazing. When we went a mass was going on (i think it was a mass or a service of some kind). The dome was absolutely beautiful. It's difficult to describe how I felt and what it looked like.

Awesome structure, a bit more ornate than is typical of such buildings. Tons of statues to be seen. The panorama view is definitely worth it (less than 3€ depending on age) an you can see all of Budapest's major landmarks and attractions from the top. A worthwhile stop.
