My wife and I went here for dinner and had an amazing time. We like to dress up so we showed up in a dress and bow tie but more people where somewhat casual. Prices were not too high. 2 apps 2 main 1 dessert 1 bottle of water and a bottle of wine was $150. The food was great. One of the best Duck dishes I have ever had. The building is just beautiful.1890s building rose marble.just spectacular. Next time we will stay at the hotel.

I went for their breakfast buffet since ordering single item is pricier. The quality and the selection of the food are excellent! The restaurant decor itself is magnificent. To make it even better, you can hear live piano from time to time. It’s definitely worth a visit!

Love the ambiance! A smoothing live music and very friendly staff. We Hazelnut and Vanilla cakes with hot chocolates. They were awesome! A very rich experience. If you are on a trip to Budapest, its a must visit!! Lot of history too, I heard the place was more than a 120 years old. Truly magnificent!

Really is a beautiful setting, great building, staff friendly and relatively attentive. Only ordered coffee and cakes so can’t comment on menu or food quality. Irish coffee was delicious, cakes a bit sickly but probably only because I had eyes bigger than my belly. Prices very high (€15 for coffee and cake) but you expect it in a place like this. Definitely a one off stop unless you’ve got more money than sense. Bit of a queue to get in too.

Beautiful place. So elegant you would think the service would be perfect. Not so. Food was tasty, presentation was nice but took us an hour to get our food once we placed our order. Waiter admitted his error but not a crumb of bread was offered to us as some compensation for having to wait. Very very poor impression. No beautiful building can make up for bad treatment. 😔

It's a grand place with beautiful decor. The service was spot on. Food was fine but unfortunately not worth its price. The two of us had a three-course meal and a glass of wine and this set us back £120.
I'd definitely recommend for an afternoon coffee and cake but not dinner.

We were staying at the hotel so we had breakfast there. We were lucky to go late - breakfast ends at 11am but live music also starts at 11am. So go late, grab your food plus champaign and stay an extra hour listening to the music.

Food is actually not bad either but we didn't have very high expectations

For those who want fine dining they should head over to the salon restaurant next doors. We had a great dinner there.

This has to be one of the most fanciest restaurants I have ever visited.

Architecture is royal and the whole building is beautiful. Food is good too, especially their cakes. As one can expect, this is a pricy place but worth it. Only downside is that it will take you about 20-30 minuets waiting to get a table.

New York Café is said to be the fanciest restaurant in the whole of Europe so if you are in town, do check it out.

The New York cafe is an incredible cafe.

It has an interesting history and the surroundings are absolutely stunning.

The cafe had live music the whole time we where there. Both a jazz band and a solo pianist.

I would strongly recommend having a reservation, as the cafe is very often completely full.

It does not get 5 stars because our waiter was very stressed out and impossible to get a hold on when we wanted something more to drink and later when we wanted to pay and get on with our tight scheduled day.

The afternoon tea was very disappointing. The tea was regular earl gray or something similar. The scones etc was not bad but we expected a lot more from the New York cafe.

One of the most beautiful places I've ever seen. Went at lunch and there were plenty of free table but they soon filled up so it's better to reserve a table in advance. The food was good especially the desserts and reasonably priced (around 8 euros for dessert). They had live music playing (piano and a string quartet). The staff were so helpful.

If you're ever in Budapest this is a MUST SEE

This place was fantastic. Well prepared and presented dishes and friendly, polite staff. There's live music performed by talented musicians 24/7 too! Even though the building's interior and exterior are a bit exquisite, the staff make you feel right at home and cozy in their restaurant/cafe. It can be a bit pricy if you don't pay attention, but it's really not too bad.

Yes it's a tourist trap but all done with some style and friendly efficient service. Afternoon tea can mean cakes or a burger and fries - up to you. The live music is kitch, but all adds to the atmosphere. Visit the toilets to get a better appreciation of the restaurant and hotel lobby.

Great and fantastic atmosphere. Feels as though you are a king eating in one of the European palaces. The food was not too bad, but nothing to die for either. Price is a little more expensive than typical Hungarian places I but nothing that drains the pocket either. They live orchestral music so that's where your money can go to.

Looks better than it is.

We found the menu to be quite overpriced - there are many places in the area that are cosier and have better options at a fraction of the price. The price of a coffee and a dessert could easily cover a three course meal elsewhere.

The staff wasn't too nice either. We noticed a waiter drop a bunch of paper tissues on the floor, only to pick them up again and arrange them back onto the table

Finally the wait for the orders was unjustifiably long, and came at very different times.

Overall, I wouldn't recommend it.

It was an experience that I wouldn't miss if I were in Budapest, if only to say I had done it. The building is incredibly beautiful and ornate as is the interior decorations. That being said, I was a bit disappointed by the tables and serving stations which looked like they were from the 1950's Americana collection. The service was extremely slow, which I'm sure had to do with the fact that it was busy, but I think it's always busy.

My husband was happy with his food, and so was I, but I suppose I expected to be thrilled given the reputation.

I would recommend for the experience, for sure.
