This used to be my base. Even though the ambience didn't change all that much tourists have flooded this place and the change hasn't been for the better. Food used to be retro and delicious. Now it's OK. You can still find some basic Hungarian dishes but portions have gone way down and quality of the dishes varies quite a bit.

i was very lucky that almost right after i got myself a drink while waiting i was seated for dinner. the main i got was beef knuckle which was very tender and the taste of the sauce got right into the beef. potatoes as side dish and the vegetable soup were all nice. had a nice coffee at the end so speed up digestion =) so much for a dinner for 1! nevertheless the reception staff was very helpful to get me seated (who did not reserve at such a busy evening at the restaurant).

Visited twice during our stay. First visit was great, lovely staff and atmosphere, nice burger and chips, reasonably priced. Second time my boyfriend ordered a steak, never has he been so disappointed. Was tiny, chewy, apparently had a cowy taste and had blood in it after asking for medium. They tried to argue that it had been correctly cooked before then re cooking it, it came out again and only half of it had been cookedleaving blood still exposed. They did leave this off the bill but we weren't impressed with their attitude towards the situation. Avoid the steak guys!

A very nice place having outside seating and an enormous inside
space.
We arrived on a Sunday without a reservation,
Were sited outside,in about 15 minutes,handed an enormous menu.
After having enough time,some 10 minutes to digest the menu, we called the waitress,ordered a first course and a second for two people.More than enough.
Very ,very good.

Good attractively presented food and wine in a nice setting. Prices are reasonable and the wine list includes many that we tried and enjoyed. Friendly staff and a bilingual menu that provides English-speaking customers with accurate and evocative dish descriptions. They don't need to have staff on the threshold touting for business - the place is rightfully full already!

Good (but not the best) goulash. Great variety of palenka - must try several of them. Apricot one is strongly recommended. House wine is pretty good. In general, the place is must visit in Budapest.

Great restaurant. The food is delicious and the waiters are friendly. Sometimes you need to wait in a queue, it worth it. Important notice: If you ordered juice you should ask if it is a fresh or not. I ordered strawberry and it wasn't fresh :(

Never lets down! We accidentally discovered Menza on our first trip to Budapest eleven years ago and have been coming back every time since. Took a set of friends with us tonight and the staff accommodated our party of 11 with los of kids at a late hour swiftly and with almost a smile in their faces (after many trips to Hungary I realized that only crazy people smile here so do not expect any of that). The food is absolutely fantastic at the price and the weekly menu options help assure you never get bored. The service is outstanding for Hungary's standards and the decor doesn't age! After so many great meals I thought the restaurant deserved the 5 stars from me :)

Menza is wonderful. I ate there twice while in Budapest 2 weeds ago. Lunch with no reservations, and dinner with reservations. We arrived a little early for dinner and they took us to our table right way. Food is great. Prices are good and the staff is amazing. I can't think of anything negative to say about this place. I Can't say that about some of the other restaurants we went to during our stay. Lunch was so good that we chose to come back again for our last night in Budapest and we were all glad we did. A party of 6. We would all definitely go back to Menza on a return trip.

The reason I have been coming back to this place for more then 10 years now is the super professional service and great food. Staff speaking languages, everyone is super nice, and they get you anything you want. No extra charge for simple things, and quality price ratio beats any other place I've been to, including Michelin star places!

The restaurant is very cozy, the staff is friendly and speak English very well. There are almost no free tables in the evening, but we were proposed to sit at the bar. The wine recommended by the waiter was delicious and not very expensive. We could take our seats in 20 minutes. The meals were also tasty - goulash soups and antipasti. The atmosphere of the place is nice, friendly, and homelike. Thanks for that!

The restaurant is well designed and looks nice however this is were it ended for us. I ordered a schnitzel which was okay however the beef cheek that my girlfriend ordered was not falling apart and tender as it should be. It was extremely chewy and hard to swallow, a massive disappointment considering all the good reviews. As well as this the dishes came out of the kitchen suspiciously quick from ordering them leading us to believe they were precooked and not freshly made. The waiter did take the meal of the bill however which was a good gesture from them

Delicious meal in quirky, cheerful restaurant. Excellent friendly staff, great atmosphere on a Sunday evening. Loved the modern decor and colour scheme. Food was very definitely Hungarian but with a modern twist. Huge portions! Smoked trout with winter salad was outstanding.
