Extremely touching and meaningful monument in such a minimalist expression. Everybody should see it profoundly, all the people who were cruelly murdered on the banks of the river were never taken out and buried in proper graves. Hopefully the new initiatives of Shoah Cellar Museum and IDF will soon start save the bodies of poor Jewish victims.
Missing things there - no explanations on who where the initiators of these terrible acts.response / report this review -

I wish there were more explaining this memorial but it is moving nonetheless. Worth seeing while in Budapest. Never forget. Never again.

A historical landmark in Budapest. In the same area as Budapest Parliament, so you can just take a walk to Danube River side and enjoy the view of Buda part 😊. It is a memorial for Nazi victim that has been asked to jump to the Danube River during war and they were forced to remove their valuable item including their shoes. Definitely a worth place to visit during my visit in Budapest

A different and very poignant way to remember a terrible event in history. You definitely need to understand the significance of it before visiting. It's a short walk from the parliament building, and from there you can walk back down the river towards the chain bridge, which at night looks amazing.

At first, it looks like some kind of weird art installation. But as soon as you get the whole picture, the emotions quickly turn into something else. The subtle yet explicit appearence combined makes it a more vivid scene than a lot of other monuments with grand statues etc. It's actually one of the most powerful monuments I have ever visited. I left very emotional. Highly recommended.

Lovely memorial. It's different than other memorials like simple statues or obelisks. Very strong message, definitely worth a visit.

Mesmerizing monument. Creatively puts you in the shoes of those who sacrificed their lifes in the long journey towards Jewish independence.

Sombrero monument to the people murdered by the Arrow Cross Militiamen Hungarian Nazis. Victims had to remove their valuable shoes before being shot and dumped into the river Danube.
