The food was good, not that special. The waiter advised the more expensive wine, propably since we are tourists When we received the wine I was wondering where the other half of the glass has left. It was not a decent service.
When we asked for the bill, the waiter pointed in a irritating way out that the service is not included in the price. He even had marked that sentence on the bill with a marker! What the .?!
Overall this bistro is pretending to be more upper class, but really isn't. There are far better places in Budapest to spend your money.

Special but at the same time traditional food. High quality. Very professional staff. Highly recommended.

Amazing wait staff, absolutely incredible food and great atmosphere. My only complaint is that I do not live in Budapest, so I won't be back for a while.

Seriously, I would give this place 10/5 if I could!

Fantastic customer service. We only had 30 minutes to eat as we needed to get to the airport. The person working there recommended a perfect wine for us. Unfortunetly the meals were not ready in time for us to devour so he wouldn't accept payment for the wine and wished us safe travels! A true testament to exceptional customer service. Thank you

Top notch. The business lunch can be done within an hour and is recommended (not only for its speed).

Bock Bistro was a disappointing experience. TL;DR - the presentation is nice, the food itself is unpalatable, the atmosphere is cold and sterile, and it's expensive. If you're looking for an alternative - go to Menza. Same type of restaurant, better food, better ambiance, better price.

Make of this what you will - the place was frequented by tourists exclusively. I didn't see a single Hungarian patron. Seemed like a typical tourist trap, expensive / not worth it.

I ordered the veal neck stew with dumplings (a traditional Hungarian dish that I enjoyed at a couple other restaurants). The presentation was nice, but the dish itself was impossible to eat. There was no stew - the dish was just a veal neck steak covered with a butter sauce and sour cream. Beside it, there were two pieces of veal covered in deep fried bread. There also were no dumplings - so basically it was just a rich veal neck steak with TONS of butter. I felt nauseous for the rest of the day.

My girlfriend ordered a soup, after which the waiter became rude during all of our interactions, presumably because he wanted us to get more food. The ambience reminded me of a 1990s wannabe upscale restaurant. It's tacky and unwelcoming. The waiters dress up in pretentious garb but serve mediocre food

Don't go here - go to Menza instead.

An amazing place for food. Really good quality fine dining with reasonable pricing. A good selection of wines which you can also buy to go.

My husband took me here for dinner and the food and service were excellent. Our waiter was professional and informative about the food and wines. He made excellent recommendations for pairing wine with our meals. We were able to buy a few bottles too. Worth stopping by.

On our first night in Budapest my husband and I were looking for a good place to eat. He is a bit of an aspiring foodie. I was hesitant about the place thinking hat there weren't many entrees that sounded appealing, I could not have been more wrong. The food was exquisite and the service was the best I've had in quite some time. Our waiter suggested several local wines to pair with the various courses which were excellent and I am now trying to find them so that I can take some home with me.

Great food and super friendly staff. Delicious wine and unfiltered beer, both "homemade". Definitely would go again and recommend.

Great food and service with a delicate selection of wine. The place is really centred around the wine.

They have a fantastic daily specials menu that uses interesting ingredients (I had ducks heart!)

The wine is always fantastic, and the staff are very knowledgable.

Well worth the price, for the quality of the food as well as the ambience of the restaurant.

Recommend booking in advance as it can get very busy!

We had a wonderful dinner. Came first for a fishermen's soup but they serve on weekends only. We had excellent goose liver for a starter the classical one with the fat. Then a perfect ox meat of stewed veal and another duck meal. To end a great almond pastry with white chocolate. The white wine was fabulous too.
    Very recommended and price reasonable.
    Enjoy! 😊
