Pretty cool museum with a couple of really big collections of specific things - beetles and sea shells, as well as an exhibition of photographs of local flowers on the ground floor. The layout is good and there's plenty of information in English about the beetles; it's a bit lacking for the shell part and the flowers, which are mostly in Croatian, but it's fairly self explanatory and you can get by without.
The price is very reasonable: we paid 5kn each to get in, but if you have a Split card that will get you in too. There are a few quite negative reviews here about this museum but we actually had a really good time and it was quite interesting just looking at a bunch of shells and beetles. My only real negative point is the 'aquarium', which is really just a couple of small fish tanks. I find keeping fish like this to be pretty cruel, but the rest of the museum was good.response / report this review -

What a sad little place! We went only because it was free with our Split Card. The admission would have been 10 Kuna, and it would not have been worth that. In the basement, there's one filthy aquarium with a few nondescript live fish, and a collection of insects, mostly beetles. This part is most assuredly not worth your time, unless beetles are your thing. Upstairs is better: mostly seashells, many of which are rather pretty. There's virtually no interpretation, and what there is is only in Croatian. The best thing you can say about the this museum is that it's a good place to escape the crowds of tourists, because nobody goes there.

I was a bit disappointed with this museum. When we first arrived, nobody was there to greet us and we waited for almost 10 minutes before getting a wave to go in with our Split passes. The museum felt a bit cheap and unexciting unfortunately.

This museum is in a very central, but unattractive, area of the city and it's operating budget is obviously too small - evidenced by walls, decorated with strong brown paper shaped to give the impression of a subterranean cavern, in the sparse basement "aquarium" of three small tanks with stock of no more that 6 small fish. The displays in the flora and fauna are sadly neglected and the upper floor displays of coral lacked description and explanation. Entrance fee of just 10 kunas (about GB£1.30) was a cheap way out of the rain! Under its present condition this place is best not visited.

Diviso in tre sale: la prima sulla fauna e la flora della Croazia( con piante secche e animali imbalsamati), una seconda sugli insetti e una terza sulla fauna marina con delle conchiglie e dei coralli provenienti anche da altre zone del mondo. Un pò triste, non ci tornerei.
